Siraqua the Mazda 3 MAY surpass the Civic in a month and a half for YTD sales but Honda will put some very aggressive programs on the 2005 Civic between now and October, and then in October the 2006 Civic launches. So I would not bet against the Civic retaining its best selling car in Canada status for the 2005 calender year.

I wouldn't bet against it either, but this is by far the closest anyone has come, and I think Mazda will run with it and perhaps take the lead into October before Honda regains.

Well it isn't written in stone that the Civic will be the best selling car in Canada FOREVER... there was a day that the Cavalier had that title for I don't know how many years.

The test for Civic will be next year, when they introduce the Fit/Jazz (I really wish they would decide on the name it will be called when it lands, save us from mentioning both all the time). After that we will see if the Civic will still sell as many units or whether the Fit will cannibalize some sales. Also interesting whether the combination of Civic and Fit will outsell Corolla and Echo combined...

Call it the Jazz....Shnak will complain he doesn't 'fit' in the Fit.

I can see it now:

"Why would they call it the Fit if I don't fit?  I don't get it.  Why do that to a name?  That's false advertising if you ask me"  Unacceptable.  And where is the tilt/telescoping steering wheel?"  :-)

Bah they can call it anyway they want because I have no hopes at all in fitting in it... Civic isn't very comfortable to me, so why would its smaller brother be any different?

Honda really needs a Matrix-like vehicle. Something a little taller/bigger than the Civic, but still smaller/cheaper than the CR-V. And no, the Element isn't Matrix-like...

Jazz/Fit is more comfortable than Civic at the back, thanks to taller roofline.

They will likely call it the Jazz.

Agreed that Honda needs a Matrix fighter. The new generation Stream may make it over here, no official word yet. How can Honda NOT be in that market is my question... Lots of Mazda 3 Sports, Matrixes, Vibes, Foci Hatches out there...

Since current Stream introduced in 01, Honda should be revamping it in next 1-2 years. By the time of the redesign, they will probably take North American in mind similar to Mazda redesigned Premacy as Mazda5.

I was walking DT Toronto last night and saw the cutest retro-like red and white scooter. It was a Honda... Jazz

Sadly, it doesn't mention top speed or fuel economy, but I bet they're both good.

If other drivers payed more attention, I'd really consider getting something like this for city errands. I've always said that when it comes time to buy a lawn mower, boat motor, weed wacker, or scooter/bike it'd be a Honda.

I'm always in the market for a car, and as far as Honda goes I'll only look at the Si/SiG Civics, because they have the added horsepower and the VTEC.  So HP is an important part of the sales pitch, I think.

As far as a Honda five door goes...  it would be a mistake not to offer something.  Given the success of the Matrix and Mazda3, Honda is losing potential customers every day.

And people who look at the Matrix are not going to be looking at the Element, I agree.

Now that I sold my car, this is the car i am looking for in HK. A 7 seater with 2.0L VTI. I rented one when i was in HK recently and i am actually looking for a good used one a 02/03 with around 40-50K mileage hopefully.
