Or the cheese shop sketch...

Kev:  Pardon me, kind sir... I'd like test drive that Mini over there.

Mini Guy:  What Mini?

Kev:  THAT one.  (Points to the one parked outside that says DEMO.)

Mini Guy:  I'm sorry sir, I've no idea what you're talking about.  I don't see any Mini outside.  There are no Minis available for a test drive at the moment.  Would you like to make an appointment?

Kev:  But it's right there!

Mini Guy:  No, it isn't.

Kev:  Yes, it IS!

Mini Guy:  No, it isn't.  Look, do you want to book an appointment, or not?

Kev:  (Sighing loudly.)  Fine.

Mini Guy:  We have an opening six months from now.  At two in the morning.  On a school night.  In a snowstorm.  However, if there is no snowstorm on that night, we'll have to reschedule.  But we'll only reschedule if you show up for the appointment.

Kev:  (Walks away, muttering under his breath.)

THE END

 That was fun.

That's how I felt with the Smart car test drive.  The car was right there and he said, we need to make an appointement and that the car was about to go out.  It never left!

I test drove the Smart and the MINI Cooper S. They were night and day.

I drove the MINI S while in West Palm Beach at Braman Motorcars which is a large group of dealers that sells premium brands, so they basically shoved be behind the wheel. Drove the exact combo I wanted - that bright blue with white top, roof, HIDs, and larger multi-spoke BBS-like alloys. Swwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeet to drive around corners! Wowzers was it great! But, I didn't like the engine that much at all. The supercharger didn't feel right. Wasn't linear at all. Always felt to me like the engine had to be nudged to life, which I didn't like.

I find the interior very spacious, and I LOVE the design. Sure, the speedo is kind of odd, but the chrome toggle switches are nifty and I think the look is just great! That's retro done right!

Anywho, I think quality has been improved greatly since they came out. It's a neat car. At $22K for a base Classic, not too bad. Not great, but it's a unique little car that holds it's value and I think they're worth it if you don't need tonnes of room. Most everything else at that price is boring, devoid of personality, and certainly not as hip nor upscale in image.

Oh, and that's a nifty shot of that mini MINI in orange. In the first photo, it nearly looked life sized to me!!! Near perfect for Jeff!

Unfortunately the killer is no cruise control available on the classic.  That's silly in 2005!

Kevlar, that must be policy of that particular dealership.  I'm pretty sure I walked into Budds one evening and 15 minutes later was careening around corners at silly-speeds in a fully-loaded light blue Cooper S.

I drove a few CRX Si's back in tha day and loved them for their nimbleness too.  The CRX feels like a Chevy Caprice in comparison though -- the only thing that even comes close to the rigid, tossable feeling I experienced in the Mini was in a Miata.

Snowman if SirAqua-the-Giant can fit in a Mini, you sure as hell can.  They've much bigger than they look.

Well, I'm old and senile and it's difficult for me to remember whether I made an appointment first or not.  I don't think I did..  I'm pretty sure I just walked in one evening and was drivin' a few minutes later.  Hmm...  Yeah, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Chevy Caprice?  Okay, maybe more of an Impala instead.

Yes Kevlar it is THAT fun.  Almost as fun as the S2000, not as fast but fun.  Actually one of the S2000 guys in Toronto bought a cooper S for his winter car and he loves it.

I never use cruise control. No biggie for me.

Yeah, being stuck in the land of perpetual stop-n-go traffic means I've used my cruise control probably 2 times in the past year.

Well never again will I not own cruise.

Driving to Toronto and back in one day with 8 hours of walking between it was absolutely killer.

Ever drive 24 hours straight with no cruise?  KILLER!

I love them ..Wifey hates them...admittedely their useage is shrinking(until we all have those auto/distance maintaining ones) as the traffic increases..NO WAY within 100K of T.O can you use one without frustration('cept maybe 3:30 am on a Sunday!!!) BUT elswhere or particularly onna longer trip they save million sin Chiropractic expenses and leave ya fresh on arrival.......DID Windsor to the Golden Triangle with NO braking on cruise once...any takers to better that!!!????
Time is to stop everything happening at once

Heck I use the cruise to zip across town all the time and it's just 15min.  I drive to Cornwall often as well about an hour and 10 min, cruise is so much more relaxing.

I've driven to Florida and back and didn't use it. No problems. Now, my butt was the real problem, it started hurting after 8 hours in my firm seat.

Ah you see, with cruise your butt would be less sore as you can move around more. :-)
