Saw a mint, basic 4-door Ford Escort from the 3rd and last generation in North-America (1997-2003). Silver sedan driven by a kid, probably a hand-me-down from his grands. Not many of these consumable cars survived. Same as this one, right down to the oem wheel covers.

A friend in university had one like this as well except in beige. He pimped it out in early 2000's fashion with a booming stereo, 17" wheels c/w painted brake drums and light up washer nozzles. The only thing it was missing was the neon underbody glow lights. Lots of fun memories!

I had a '97 Escort wagon with a 5spd. I put a set of Miata alloy wheels on it. It was almost devoid of character. The chassis was ok (Mazda) but the engine was dull (Ford).

Saw a Saab 9-5 today, maybe a 2010 or 2011? The last of the line.  Still a beautiful car.

The couple of 9-5 s I drove  in the mid 200s seemed to be very nose heavy and they had vague rubbery shifters. I went with a Volvo manual which was better but it still wasn't no honda.

Saw a nice, practical two car solution in someone's driveway today: A Volvo V90 and a new Defender 110, white with white steelies.

That's a great combo, even better if the Volvo wasn't a Cross Country.  I like the vibe....like, we appreciate nice things but aren't flashing the cash.

Saw my first Maverick in the next to me lane. AWD so it must be the turbo, not a hybrid. Looked very good and classic in blue and just the size you want for parking inside a small-ish garage.

Cool.  I still have some trim pieces from one of those.  Headlight surround and reflector IIRC.
Does it have the four rectangular headlights?

Probably the best beater I ever had.

Good question. I have not yet seen the front of it and did not feel so bold as to go up their front lawn to check.

Early Acura Legend sedan on the highway! That rear treatment is easy to spot, especially on a white car like the one I saw. Looked mint too, unlike the web pic.

Seen on the parking lot at work, a VW Passat Wagon W8 (AT) 4 motion. It appears to be owned by one of our younger mechanical engineer.

That's very cool, if a little terrifying.

The modern headlights look slightly odd in there but a neat old Land Rover.
