My Dad had a Blazer (88-89 maybe?)  after the Caprice Classic wagons went to that weird blob shape. That was his first SUV.

'91 was the first year for the blob. I have to admit that I kinda like them.

The Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser/Buick Roadmaster versions had that cool glass roof over the second row.

Well, I guess the days of Kia's being the more handsome alternative to their Hyundai brethren are over, I think.

Mind you, the Sportage was always the most goofy looking out of Kia's entire lineup, but this is just horrendous.  So much going on with that front end.

It's like we're living in some horrible dream where all small CUVs/SUVs have to look as ridiculous as possible, and one day we're going to wake up and they'll all look like this again:

 ::)
Are you an old man yelling at clouds now  :rofl2:
That Blazer look  :hurl:

:rofl2: when I posted that, I somehow knew you'd be the first comment and would tell us how terrible that Blazer is/was. Don't change buddy....
They were all the rage in the ‘80’s , all Bricklayers owner drove them until the Jeep Cherokee came out
Sorry to hurt your feeling  :rofl2:

The S10 Blazer and Cherokee were introduced a year apart.  :P

No hurt feelings, you don't like the Blazer, that's cool with me.

For the record, I rather arbitrarily choose the Blazer as an example....I easily could've used an XJ Cherokee (fantastic vehicle, my parents had one growing up) or an Explorer, they all looked pretty sweet IMO.

:rofl2: Busted. Honestly though, if you gave me a choice between a Blazer like that and an XJ Cherokee I am not sure which I'd choose...Would probably come down to trim/spec.

I am not a fan of the styling.  To me it does not look like a $150K vehicle.  Hell I'd say the current A class looks better.

Exactly, that looks like the new bargain basement Merc, not the high end.
Lighten up Francis.....

Jesus, one recently sold for $22k on BaT.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1989-chevrolet-blazer-13/

and then Toyota came along and crushed them all with the generational 1990 4Runner:

My vote goes for this trio, 2-doors with 3 pedals!

... but I have to admit the S10 Blazer 2-door was a mighty fine looker at the time

While I'm a huge fan of the XJ Cherokee, you can't talk about two door S10s without mentioning the Typhoon, easily one of the most desirable SUVs to ever roam the earth

A nice driveline in a craptastic box!. I imagine it is fairly light. One of the rare strange glimmers of hope within GM in the 90s.

They should have also stuffed that motor into something more off-road oriented.

I loved all of those. The two door Pathfinders and 4Runner were rare even when they were new. Both were introduced as two door models with the four doors coming a bit later.

I did briefly own a 1999 Cherokee Sport two door, with the 4.0 and manual. It was nicely equipped - IIRC it had cruise, AC, and all the power options. Got it for $4400 from a client of mine at the time, then someone hit me in an intersection a year later and I got $4400 from the insurance company - basically just lost the taxes.

Those late XJ 2-doors were pretty rare. Super durable too. A buddy of mine bought one from a scrapyard (one of those 'last chance before it hits the yard' deals) with like 280K on it, had the 4.0L and a stick. He cleaned it up, did some maintenance items, and ran it for a good 7-8 years. He used it to tow a landscape trailer, then became a Process Server, so it was on the road 8+ hours a day. When he finally replaced it, it was up over 450K and still drove well, body was starting to go though, and he sold it for more than he had paid for it.

His was pretty base, I recall it had manual windows.

I leased a 98 Sport 4 door for 30 months new, it was as loaded as a Sport could get, which wasn't very much. It was factory ordered  with a manual and the off-road package. That 4.0 could break the tires loose on the 2 - 3 shift even, was wild the torque it had! Only issue I had with it was the front rotors were :censor: & would warp easily! First ones went at 10k kms & were dealer replaced, then again at 23k kms & again dealer replaced with the caveat that they wouldn't do them again & I was too hard on the brakes  :banghead: Told the service advisor that it was a stick & I was gearing down to slow down more that the brakes even... next set of rotors were done by my indy & he put upgraded rotors that lasted to the end of the lease. Replaced that with a factory ordered Dakota 4 door 4x4, with the 4.7 and a manual again. The ex's Mom worked for Chrysler, so we were getting the employee pricing.

I had a Jeep Cherokee Sport for a while. Some low life came and stole 4 out of the 5 lug nuts off each wheel one night. It was our only workable vehicle at the time so I walked a couple kms to Canadian Tire to get replacements. That night they came back for the 5th one on each wheel to get themselves a full set.  ???

otherwise it was good but crude vehicle. Traded it for a Neon when could not afford a set of new tires for it.  ;D

My parents also leased a '97 Cherokee Sport.  I learned to drive on it.  Fantastic vehicle.

Deleting two doors definitely made those trucklets much more sporty.  ;D
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.
