These are handy as heck during a power failure. They run off the phone jack power, so as long as the phone land line service is connected, you have a working phone.
What is a landline  ???  ;D

They are handy in a power outage, but how many people have a real phone land-line now?

Still a few, just like those manual gearboxes.

We do. Does no harm. Provides a single number to reach either of us.  However if the power goes out the Rogers phone modem goes out shortly afterwards  But before that our internal phone system is all wireless so that goes out immediately.    The good side is that we don't deal with Bell.

But that's what I mean, you don't have a real telephone line, you have VOIP.

The history of power cuts in the 14 years we have been here is very good.  The longest was about 3 hours after a major wind storm and that was in daylight!

I'm quite sure rotary phones haven't worked in the UK for years, as they made everything digital.

When we moved to Canada the push button phones actually emitted the dialling signalling.

Spotted cat puke in front of the spare bedroom door on my way to the dining table this morning.

On the way home from work today I bought this nice postage stamp to use on a letter and the girl behind the counter at the drugstore CUT the stamp out of the sheet with scissors rather than tear it out along the perforations.  So there is one spot on the edge that's a bit uneven but it won't show once I affix the stamp to the envelope.  I was like, You don't need scissors, that's what the perforations are for.  Don't these millennials know anything?

Stopped by the Mrs' office and noticed her new staff member has a JGC SRT. Told him I wanted a ride once things get better.

If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

That interior is remarkably similar to a Jeep TJ of the same vintage in terms of its blockiness and crap, shiny plastic usage.   :)
