Saw the new VW Arteon couple of weeks ago.  Looks nice.  I am sure it's nicer than the Passat.  Just not sure if the way the segment is going, if there is room for both.

Well the Arteon is $12k more than the most expensive Passat and has standard AWD.

An unexpected find - a 1996–2003 Mercedes-Benz V-Class Fashion van. This one looked to be diesel powered by the soot marks on the ground. It had a small "Fashion" badge on it.

Sure I get that.  But with the market changing, why not just make the Passat $6k more, use the engine from the Arteon, and the AWD.  Don't think there is room for both.  Just make the Passat a bit more upscale.

Saw a car carrier with a bunch of new Hyundais on it and a MINT E30 M3.  The M3 looked brand new.  The old BMW looked so elegant next to the modern cars.

Elegant...if a little boxy.  That's what always jumps out to me with that version.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I saw a mint 4-door e30 this evening.  Lovely cars.

Can't stand how the 4 series is a coupe, and gran coupe (4 doors).  Same as the A5 coupe, and sport back.  To fackin complicated, hard to keep track.

I don't have an issue with it. Basically with BMW the even numbers are the sportier bodystyles. I do take issue with the fact that they named the new Gran Turismo a 6-series though. That should have been a 5-series.

Missed this post the other day. The issue with the Passat is that it looks dreadfully boring (sorry Sir O) and has a fairly cheap interior. I don't think that a more expensive Passat would really fly.

I agree, I meant after a face lift, or next gen.

I'm not convinced that the 2020 Passat really fixes those issues.

No problem Oliver. I'm a dreadfully boring person.  ;D
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

A Hyundai Equus in the parking structure at work. I think this is only the second one I've ever seen, and the first I've seen in Canada.

I drove one in Edmonton.  What a glorious beast!

If these were road legal I would buy one right away. Four cylinder turbo-diesel engine with five speed manual and four wheel drive.

Just saw this (NSFW) https://old.reddit.com/r/Whatcouldgowrong/comments/bcruk9/spike_stripping_in_a_residential_area/
and it reminded me of a similar Pontiac on 401 eastbound near Oshawa a couple of days ago. It somehow blew its front left tire and shreds of rubber were all over the highway. The tread completely separated from the sidewall and kudos to the driver who was pro enough to make it from the left lane to the right shoulder without hitting anyone or spinning the car. It's the first time I saw such thing on a passenger car. Chinese tires maybe?
