I heard a sharp, exotic wail yesterday morning while driving the pressie back to the manufacturer, and a late-model Lambo blasts by and takes the offramp next to me. Flat black, black wheels. Last run probably, streets were white this morning  :-\

Flat black. I remember when flat black was Tremclad, usually applied by spray bomb. That's the first thing that comes to my mind when I see flat black wrapped vehicles. :rofl2: These drivers think they are so hot, but I just look at it as another junker.

BMW i3 about to be pulled up on a flatbed on the freeway. First snowy commute this morning, probably ran "dry" - perhaps did not have snow tires on and wiped its juice faster than the owner expected. I drove one in the snow, with snow tires, and they're pretty good. Heater takes a toll on range though.

99% of the times I see a tow truck picking up a dead car, it's a Toyota  ;D

Yeah, but probably a 25 year old Toyota on its fourth owner that has broken down for the first time ever.

This week has been a strange one. A late 90's Chevy Malibu on the side of the highway with its hood up and 4 ways on, not 3km later another Malibu from the same vintage with its 4 ways on and steam pouring out from underneath. Bad spot for Malibus?

Also seen FOUR brand new Ram trucks on flatbeds this week and a broken down Maserati Quattroporte.

Today at the CT lot when I dropped the car off to get the Xi3s - the grandpappy of Genesis: a Hyundai XG350 in very good shape.  Great colour as well, a deep metallic aquamarine.

Seen on the back lot at the local Subaru dealer, a sad looking late 90s Legacy GT with a note on the windshield:   " Broke Down Piece of :censor:.  Tow Truck is En Route!".  I'm guessing that note was put there when it was on the side of the highway somewhere.

My diesel car self-identifies as an electric vehicle.

I'm surprised. The 90's Subarus were rock solid. I owned a Legacy with the 2.2 and put 430,000 on it. The GT was the turbo version, but always reliable too. Rust was the biggest problem. But I guess a 20+ year old vehicle will be problematic if it wasn't service properly.

No turbo in a '90s Legacy GT, at least not on this continent. I had a '98 that I loved but it rusted apart.

Interesting pair with Radwood potential: Acura Vigor (5 cylinder!) and submarine-gen Celica, like these:

Drove beside a thing today...had a Toyota badge.

It had a snorknel air intake which is what I first noticed  Was about two feet above the hood.
Rear bumper replaced by what looked like a piece of rail line with a BIG tow connector. The spare tire and a 5 gallon gas can mounted up high on the rear door.
Big wheels of course and tires with tall sidewalls...as an off roader should have.
On the front a brush bar thingy with mounts and power for a winch.

Black with darkened windows so I could not see what was driving it.

I did not see any extra lights.

I guess it was a Forerunner with the special kit from Toyota Safari Developments.   Looked neat actually.
