Driving in Waterloo today around 10am. Rainy and 3 degrees - what a champ.

 :fiver:

It was a balmy 6 degrees and sunny last Wednesday, so i peeled the cover off the roadster and took it for a good spin.  Felt great!  I'm not putting the cover back on until the snow flies.  ;D

Saw a gray Ford Fiesta ST in opposing traffic at a light. The one you guys don't get.

https://www.ford.de/fahrzeuge/der-neue-ford-fiesta-st?vehicleNavCategory=pv

Looks pretty cool, but I kind of liked the previous-gen Fiesta ST looks better.

Makes 200PS and 290 Nm from the 1,5 litre 3-cylinder, with a single cylinder deactivation under light load.

A pair of Japanese classics looking a little down on their luck. Toyota Supra and Datsun 260Z 2+2.

what is this PS and Nm shenanigans? HP and ft lbs. thank you. The Aussies drove me mad talking about "she has xxx kilowatts!" I would be baffled, thinking they were talking about an electric car, then about Back to the Future 1.21 Gigawatts...and then wondering what the power figure means...because 100 kilowatts to me meant...anywhere between 50 and 500hp.

HP and ft lbs, universal standard thank you.

It looks like you typed your response on an internet forum.  That same internet that has online tools to convert hp to kw to ps... Pretty cool place, that internet.

PS - The fact that we need such conversion tools proves that there is no universal standard.

Just assume 200 horsepower and 214 lb/ft, thanks to the internet.

I use the metric standard (SI). kW is technically the best measure for power, but PS/ch still works. Defined as "the power to raise a mass of 75 kilograms against the Earth's gravitational force over a distance of one metre in one second". For what it's worth, for official taxation and measurement purposes, the kW is used in Europe even if advertisements usually use horsepower.

The standard metric unit for torque is Nm.

And 1000kg = 1 tonne  ;D

Not that's it's really special but a fairly clean first gen Grand Cherokee caught my eye the other day. It was a dark blue Limited V8 with the gold badging. You don't see many of those around anymore and it reminded me of how significant that first generation model was to the SUV market.

I really like those, despite them being unibody SUVs, and not the most reliable. Very rare to find one that isn't total scrap around here anymore. Orvis edition for me please:

Gimme the 5.9 Limited please. That 360, coil springs all around and having a wide variety of parts available would make it into an awesome offroader.

Lighten up Francis.....

Add the truck and you have three classics in that pic, and given the state of the house, one may be able to cut a deal on the two sport coupes!

I think the owner is a bit of hoarder type. There are a few houses in disrepair all owned by the same person (I suspect) all with old cars parked at them. Usually it is hard to buy another off that sort of person. Pure speculation on my part.

Yeah, I loved the 5.9 Limited. I can remember our small town dealer having four brand new ones on the lot which we thought was pretty crazy.

The good old 'Murican standard... Hmmmmmmm  like Fahrenheit degrees  I suppose and US Gallons.
KW and Nm are the REAL units      PS are as near as dammit to regular  horsepower   and then 1 bhp = .735 Kw
NM are about 0.737 lb/ft

SO for forums   just learn to divide or multiply in your head by 0.736  or 1.35 and you will be near enough for either unit.

Did you know that the Kilogram has now been properly defined  in terms of Planck's constant and c.  The new definition will take effect next year.

That was one of the few weekends I wasn't at the track.  If the drag strip was running that day, we'd have cars and spectators where the plane landed.

Saw a Cadillac XLR, like the one pictured below, on my way to work this morning.  Sure stood out in a sea of bland this time of year.  These things still look good and havwe much more presence than the current Merc SL imo.
