Saw my first Model 3 on this morning's commute, red with tall silver wheels. The Model S styling translates better to this smaller car than on the goofy-looking Model X IMHO.

Cool.  Looks like it would fit inside that Sonata.  ;D

I find it funny how perspectives change once you move outside North America.

I saw a Chevy Trailblazer from few years ago, on route to work this morning ! Any NA-spec car draws a couple extra blinks from me here in Germany  :rofl2:

The exotic European cars *yawn*. New Audi RS4 ? Porsche 911 GT2 whatever ? Mercedes C63 ? BMW M2 ? They don't get a second look from me here.

Yeah, we laugh about the "land yachts" of the 1970s, but cripes, cars today are MASSIVE.  My Miata looks comical parked in the garage next to the Corolla and downright jaw-droppingly tiny next to the Highlander.  In traffic around here, the Highlander seems small sometimes.

vehicles are getting huge, but they don't have to be - almost always you are ferrying yourself, and maybe one other - very seldom do I see more than 2 people in a vehicle, regardless of class

This is a major irritation of mine, already added it to that thread. My Alfa is from 97, and is small compared to my Saab, which is small compared to many 2018 midsize cars and tiny compared to the fleets of merchantmen out there (CUVs). And yet, my Alfa has a huge trunk and room for 5 easy (did that on the way back from a wedding last week, nobody complained). A modern car offers nothing in terms of space, and even less ergonomics, yet is so much bigger.

The bloat has to stop, or the midsize will soon be not so old S class size...and nobody can fit in parking spaces without dinging doors, or in garages, or parallel park without 1000 cameras and sensors etc.

If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Makes sense. I have a recurring fantasy wherein I roll up to the Hotel de Paris (i think that's what it's called) in Monaco not in a RR Phantom or chromed-out Veyron, but something like this:

The issue is that in North America, there is no incentive to buy small.

In Europe and Asia, there is the concern of space and running costs.

How do you get them across?  Pick them up?  I stopped for one last summer and didn't know what to do, I had golf clubs with me so I used one to nudge him the way he was headed to a pond that was right on the side of the road, but he was vicious and fast at biting the club!  I sure wouldn't have the nerve to get my hands down there!

Yeah, I made sure I put on my thick insulated linesman gloves before i picked up that sucker.  I've picked them up before without gloves and you just have to make sure you grab them the right way, or else.  ;D

Yep...I grab them near the back legs...if your hand is much further up, they can reach.

I always get scratched a bit..no gloves. If there's something in my car, I use that (piece of wood, ice scraper, etc) If not..bare hands. Thankfully that's only once or twice a year.

Ever see the alligator snappers they have down south? Omfg they are MASSIVE!

Edit..I kinda do what she's doing here.

The one I stopped for was a hell of a lot more aggressive than the one in the video!  It wouldn't have let me calmly squat down behind it, it kept turning around to attack.  Stupid thing was it took longer because of me trying to "help" it across than if I'd just left it alone

The wheels don't do it for me at least... :P

Just after i took this shot a black AM DB-11 Volante drove right by me with the top down.  What a contrast to the M6!

Agree, shame about the wheels - but is it me or has that generation 6-series aged really well? I really dig the proportions whenever I see one.

In other news, I spotted a black Stinger GT this morning. First one I've seen in that colour and it looked really sharp - i think it's my new favourite colour for the Stinger, as it masks some of those polarizing gills and scoops, while still keeping that distinctive silhouette well-defined.
