Tough crowd today  ;D

This is all just dreams and talk anyway. All she [my wife] wants is a :censor: SUV and could care less about anything else. It's me who dreams about her zipping around town in a convertible - scarf and hair blowing in the wind  :P

I'm happy to spend that money on myself, however.
Wait until she 45 than get her the ragtop , she will be happy  ;D

Yeah, cause when they reach their 50s they want a retractable hardtop.   :P

I didn't like them as much as their predecessor, but thought they were ok, style wise. The look has grown on me, especially in light of the grouper mouth overstyling that's going on currently.

I guess I can say it has grown on me as well. Also to clarify - I view this as a "wife car" so my comments need to be understood from the context of my wife would look good driving one.  ;D

Is your wife 60?  :P
What is wrong with a 60 year old wife ?
Are dumping your wife when she 60   ;D

Nothing as long as you're 60 as well.   ;D

yeah yeah.... i'll get on that. work changed our online privileges apparently so I have to do it on my phone, which is an issue as I am a bit of a luddite.

I need a break from work at the moment, so i'll go get it cleaned and maybe get some shots as well. it's a start!

Montreal, 5pm. When there's a temporary No Parking sign but your car is so righteous and intimidating it won't be ticketed.

Speaking of which, just saw a very black, very clean E43 AMG. Tinted windows, night package, etc. Looked GREAT. Except for the fact that the owner had added the Mercedes hood ornament, in addition to the massive tristar in the grille.

Saw a DTS with the same setup the other day too, but that not unexpected.

I saw a blacked out XF with the Jaguar ornament on the hood the other day.  The Jaguar was tilted downwards because of the slope of the hood's front end.

That's hilarious - what are people actually thinking when they do that?? The E43 line really appeals to me and seems like the perfect Goldilocks drivetrain, between the sensible E300 and the bonkers E63. Too bad they don't offer that one in a wagon here (not that I'd be able to afford it new lol).

Isn’t the E400 essentially the E43 in all bit name?

LOL you guys are too friggin' fast here! I was literally just going back to edit my post to acknowledge as much.  :) Anyway credit where it's due, Vman  ;)

I do believe the '43 has some more go-fast bits with regard to engine tuning and suspension, as well as cosmetic stuff that really sets it off. Though I guess those things would be easy enough to do with some quality aftermarket solutions like from Renn-tech or similar.

The E43 has 67 more HP and 30 more lb/ft of torque so it's significantly quicker.

It's also being replaced by the E53 for 2019, which is a mild hybrid with even more power.

Yep, and it's also going to be an inline-6 apparently. Very excited about that that motor. Seems those torque-fill, "performance hybrid" drivetrains are only getting better.

Well, a fairly obscure thing.  :P I only know because I have a hard on for the E wagon.. Just a thing of beauty. There's a dark blue E400 with a tan interior up the street from me. So nice.

And of course Oliver comes in with his 100% facts  ;D

Oh believe me, i’m similarly obsessed. I have an aunt who has had a succession of E-wagons since getting her first 300TE back in the early 90’s, including a mid-2000’s E500 4matic with the V8, which I got to drive a couple of times - that thing was a proper sleeper! She's currently in a silver 2018 E400 and it is gorgeous. I got a ride in it last time I visited her and the interior is quite a step beyond the old one - it's almost too nice, if that makes sense. I didn't love the dual-screen instruments, but that's where everyone's headed I guess.

I suggested she de-chrome it and slap some gunmetal BBS-style wheels on it, explaining "that's how the Europeans do it!" but she didn't seem too enthusiastic - clearly I’m not classy or posh enough for the wagon’s intended demographic  :P
