We have had the big plows out only twice this winter so far and no salt has been thrown out at all in my area here in Ont.  We haven't had much need for it at all this year and hope it keeps up. All of our carwashs have the underspray for free so I don't worry about the salt from here at all. Years ago your argument made sense but not in the last 5 to 8 years as salt is hardly ever used anymore.

Who cares if they use salt or if anyone in Ontario ever washes their car. The bottom line is that an car from Eastern Canada is worth less in B.C. or Alberta.

That is true, Sterling. People here are very leary of Ontario cars in general.

It's a price thing.  If you see a vehicle for a significant amount less...the first thing that comes to mind is...what's wrong with it?  Ontairo cars are cheaper used because their market is so much larger...the supply is much more plentiful.  But the lower price plants the seed of skepticism into the minds of the Westerners....regardless of reasoning.

If you listen to the (Toronto) media, the equalization deal for NL and NS is unfair to Ontario.  If you instead investigate the whole point, you'll discover that, under the equalization formula, Alberta's oil revenues are NOT considered on the plus side.  Therefore, if oil revenues aren't considered for Alberta, why should they be considered for anyone else?  The logical extension of this is, all non-renewable resources should be treated the same way, so, for example, all mining royalties should be deducted from the formula.

Now back to cars.

I don’t quite understand all this salary gap and link to revenue sharing crap. I say Ontario should go on strike for a better deal so our money is used to fix Ontario. Time for the poor hard done by Provinces to get off the utters….this cow is dry. Moooove along....

Alberta is actually the winner when the oil revenues don't count in equalization - it means their income is lower, so they pay less into equalization.

Ontario, poor, poor hard done by Ontario.  Let's all shed a tear.
