Dave!  Don't answer that... he's a cop... and Hamilton ain't far from Wloo!  :-)  Uhh... I've said too much.

Railton, an Airedale does have all the Wheaten's great features without the fun, loveable personality.  Nasty, former police dogs those.  :-)

That's my Daisy girl.    Olympic begging champion when it comes to food.  Luckily, I can muster a heart of stone, just to keep her healthy.  She gets baby carrots as treats twice a day - that's it.  She's a healthy 80 lbs.

I can almost smell the oily skin now.  I love labs and goldens, but I hate shed dog hair and doggy smell... non-shedders for me thanks.  :-)

You're right, Jeff.   Labs and golden retrievers have oily coats because they're water dogs.  We picked a lab, based on the breed's well-known gentle temperament - we have no issues with her shedding, which only occurs in the spring.  Wonderful breeder, who breeds mostly field trial champions (Daisy's daddy was 'Gunner') and dogs for the disabled.

A Wheaton is a great non-shedder, but the ones I have met are aggressive, as most terriers tend to be.  My other favourite dog, which is non-shedding, gentle and smart as a whip, is the standard poodle.  It's the same size as a bigger dog, and wonderfully graceful.  I knew a cool black standard named Harry once upon a time.  His owners never groomed him at all like the, well, slightly poofy show animals.  He was just all shiny black curls.  Brilliant animal.

Dogs, when properly selected and trained, are a wonderful thing.  And, once you've bonded, you're toast.

Love this topic.  I could write pages and pages.

Labs are World Famous for their Undying Loyalty and Hi intelligence. My Black Lab is a 10 year old Female named Spinksee. Both parents were pure bred but one was a Dobi. Makes here colours very interesting and her intellignce is amazing. Love the Black Labs.

Very nice Lab, Brigitte. Looks an awful lot like my own (I'd post a picture, but all mine are of the film & paper variety, and I don't have a scanner here.)

I'm a little biased, of course, but I find Labs to be much less oily and doggy-smelling than Goldens. I can't really deny the shedding aspect, though.

Now that we've totally hijacked this thread; I'd like to put up a pix of Drake, my 6 year old Sheppard/Rottie cross. Both parents were pure. Drake is a handsome fellow and very devoted to the this family. He's not small at 115 pounds and is a meaningful watch dog for the house (but really is quite fearful of many things - loud noises being just one). I'll get a digital pix taken and post it. Maybe we should start a new thread for dog pictures??

I put this 2 year ago shot up also so you can see Drake's size better and the fact that all the trees you see in this pix are now totally gone all the way to the lake from the fires of Aug. 2003: Drakehills

Well, our family has the sissy dog.  We have a purebred Maltese that is CKC registered and is now 2 1/2 years old.  Pappa is a Best in Show winner and momma is also a show dog.  Our guy didn't make show quality...he was a little short I guess.  He's a great little guy (6lbs) that is quite protective of my son.  Even when grandma comes over and is holding my son, the dog follows to keep an eye out on grandma.  Baby cries, first guy to the door is the pup.

Sir Civic and Mdx - both wonderful dogs. I can't say enough about big dogs like Labs but I like small ones also (as long as they don't yap too much). Mdx, your guy is a real cutey and makes me smile to see him.

Poor Snowy - we've screwed this thread big time !! Dogs are more interesting than ashtrays anyway. There, back on topic.

Thanks Ovr....we love all dogs...big or small.  Our guy only yaps when there's somebody at the door or outside on our property....other than that he's quiet.  Maybe Snowman has a dog too.....maybe he stuffed it in the ashtray.  :-)

Your pooch is beautiful Ovr....same with Sir Civic's.  I'm lucky as our guy does not shed.

Yeah, great picture, Mdx! Can't help but smile at that.

Looks like you've got a nice guy there too, Ovr. Love the black and gold - especially the eyebrows!

Ok now, where were we? Oh yeah, ashtrays. No such thing on a '99 Civic. It does have a coin holder though. I used to keep some change in there, but got tired of it rattling around, so now it just sits empty.

The Mazda RX-8 has an ash tray but I don't think I've opened it yet. Same for a coin tray somewheres on the dash. I seem to be dumping anything in the front arm rest cupholder thing - phone, gum, coins, keys to everything, tire pressure guage, cell phone charger as there is a 12v receptical there. In the rear arm rest are napkins and wet ones for Kate.
