What do you keep in the ashtray of your car?

For me it is gas receipts…..for tax purposes.

I don't have an ashtray...I have a coin tray and I keep money in it.  Parking....coins for the shopping carts.

Barrie...I thought butt and ass were the same thing...no need to repeat it.  :-)

I put sticky felt liner in both the ash tray and the coin tray. Coins in the coin tray; mail box key and plugs that I stick in aerial hole when I take aerial off to go thru one particular car wash that I use in the winter only.

The space where an ashtray would be is a playground for the entropy twins, Flotsam and Jetsam: 2 pieces of plastic from a...ahem...flimsy VW rear seat cupholder, 1 Trident gum wrapper, 1 Tim Horton lid fragment, 1 seatbelt locking clip for use with a dearly departed booster seat.

even for smokers, It's rare that butts end up in the car and not littered on the road.

Hmmm... not sure.  I haven't opened my ashtray since the day I picked up the car.  No need to do so.  Change goes in the pocket, not the car.  Nobody's allowed to eat or drink in my car, let alone smoke!

No ashtray in my car. It's been replaced by a small cubby hole that is now home to the stereo remote. I guess it's not a smoker-friendly car. hehehehee

My door map pockets, glovebox, and cubbyholes are full of stuff. Maps, tire pressure thingie, pens, some hard candy, How-To-Speak-French-in-7-Weeks book I rarely reference, the MINI Motoring Games game, some brochures and advertising goodies I liked, parking tickets, etc. Not garbage or mutating food, just 'stuff'.

Passenger side rubber floor mat is my garbage vestible. Crumple gum wrappers into a ball and toss 'em there, along with whatever else (so long as it's not sticky or food) until I drive near someplace to dispose of it. A garbage can, preferably. Actually, always. Litter sickens me.

As for ash/cointray, I have some business cards, notes full of names and numbers I've scribbled for things I can't remember, a magnet from my '03 Georgian College auto show, some coins from Pensacola FL's Mardi Gras, and free bowling tokens.

The centre console is home to coins galore! I accumulate them here till I find a way to rid myself of them - usually thru filling up at odd digits, parking meters, or tossing them in the CoinStar machine at the supermarket to get bills back. At the moment I've lots of coinage. And if they sit improperly together at certain speeds and over certain bumps they'll buzz together, driving me nuts until I run my hand over them and shake 'em up into a different position. Then I'm :-) again. Pretty sad, eh? Also use this area to hold my passcard for work, and as a space for that tasty Trident Citrus gum I love so much.

Rear snazzy opening faux-ashtray (where the armrest on GLS or centre-armrest models mount) holds the spring for the passenger side of my rear pop-out cupholder (I caused this, and have yet to contort myself in the back to reinstall the spring back in), some bills (don't anybody find and break into my car now, or I'll hunt you down like the animal(s) you are!), my house keys when I don't want them on me/in my pocket. Also have a Remembrance Day coin from where else? You guessed right... Tim's!

Well it's good to now there is consistancy between your vehicular storage compartments and your posts...you've got a bit of everything in there, nothing left behind.  Kidding...I kid.
