today i went to enrin mills acura and the sales people totally disregarded me.  the saleslady asked whether i was interested in the EL?  I said i'd like to take a look at the tsx please and she's like ya i'll have someone come by and help you.  toodle loo do loo i stand there and look around for 15 minutes nobody helps me.  i go back to the chick and ask her if she asked someone to help me.  she said all salespeople are busy or something. i saw a bunch of guys in their office jus talking and sipping coffee.  are they not taking me seriously?

i asked her again if i could speak to one of the managers.  she brings out a manager he asks me how he can help me.  i say sir i want to test drive the tsx.  he tells me none are available today.  i told him bs because my friend truong's dad was just in the same dealershp last night and got to test drive.  he had nothing to say and he said fine we'll let you test drive.

is this a typical attitude at acura?  when i went to other places they treat me with respect and class.  now i'm having second thoughts about acura. but the txs is a nice car before i add some mods it's gonna be so hot don't you know it playa.

"Where da true playas at?"
Easy on the "big-pimpin" talk and lack-o-caps...

I had no problem test driving anything (and everything) at the Acura dealership where I bought my RSX.  Maybe it's the way you converse and/or carry yourself.  Just a thought.

Tell Tron I said "Yo, snap snap!"

Now why would a dealership not take such a big pimpin' mac daddy such as yourself not seriously?  I mean....as soon as you walked onto the showroom floor...I bet atleast 2 or 3 employees shouted "Mac Daddy in the haus!  Can we get you a bottle of Crystaaal 'cause we know that's how you roll?"

What's even funnier is how this guy keeps giving himself 5 star ratings and how everybody just gives him a 1 to lower it back to 2.

First of all, to be fair I know that dealerships have it tough because they get so many people who just want to try out the latest and greatest car with no interest in buying.

Having said that, I absolutely cannot stand attitude from sales people.  Whether it be a higher end car dealership or high end restaurant, service people need to understand that their product may be high-end, but not them.  They work there to provide service.  Going by their attitude, you would think they owned the place.

My past cars, which were higher end models, were purchased from sales people who helped me eventhough showed up with jeans and a t-shirt.  Obviously I still had to bargain on price but it was so much more satisfying knowing I gave my business to a rep who thought it worthwhile to serve me.

My super-small way of making the world a better place.

Every dealer is different.  When looking seriously for a new car I took out a new BMW 325 once (this was a few year back of course when they were new) and they had no problem going for the test drive.  But when I said I wanted to drive the car on the highway the saleman (who came with us) said there wasn't much gas in the car.  I said, no problem, I'll stop at a gas station so you can put some in it.  He didn't look happy but that could be because he was stuffed in that no so roomy back seat.  Who would buy a car after a 5 minute test drive or without driving it on the highway?
I think it all depends on the salespeople/dealership you go to.  I've known professional adults in the 40's not being able to drive the car other than right turns around the block.  Does this car turn left?
When people buy a ultra-expensive car, do they just pay and drive home with the car or is there a test drive available?  I've always wondered that.

Some dealerships in Ottawa only do right turn circles.  Some do a short highway romp and that's it, they always blame it on Insurance.

Funny enough, when I was shopping and took out the miata they only let me drive in a slow neighbourhood doing right turns at 40km/h OH FUN!  Then when I test drove the Rx8, they said, go where you want to go?

Interesting.

Best test drive without being serious would be mercedes.  I had to setup an appointement as they don't do test drives on the weekend.  They let me go where I wanted to go and I drove the car for 30mins or so.

Did they have one in stock?  I drove an MDX without the tech package as they didn't have one with the nav on the lot for me to play with.  Bought the tech package sight unseen.

A while back when I tested the TSX, I found that the salespeople were going left and right to make sure I was accomodated to my satisfaction. Kinda felt like I was some sort of celebrity or something as I had 3 salespeople helping me at once, answering all my questions, asking me questions themselves to get a good idea of what I was looking for. Hell when we were about to go out on the test, the salesguy even offered me his gloves saying it was pretty chilly out!

Then again it was only me and another family that was in the dealership at the time, so that might've had something to do with it.

Yep...one SL for the showroom floor.

My parent's neighbour even owns the bloody dealership we bought it from.  No discount, no test drive.

We have definitely had the best experience(s) shopping at Lexus for the RX300 (and RX330).  Same goes for service...M-B and BMW are no where near Lexus in quality of service.  I'm yet to service my RSX (due in October) but I was VERY impressed with my shopping/purchasing exp. at Fairview Acura.

Lexus service is numero uno when it comes to mass produced cars.  I almost bought an RX330 and was thoroughly impressed with their service philosophy.

My experience, look like an a$$ at any sales establishment and no one is going to waste their time one you.

I worked at number of fashion retail boutiques during my initial student days. Spend enough time working sales and the type of customer different people make dawns on you.

Look like an ass, get treated like one... playah.

I was treated like sh*t one time at a Birks store.  Was shopping for an engagement ring and for 35 minutes...sales associates walked right by me to help others.  Not a peep from anybody.  I guess nobody wanted to help me in my purchase of an expensive (way too expensive) ring.  To this day...I have not purchased anything from the Birks chain.  Never will.  Of course, the higher end the store...the snootier the sales people.  That's what I've found.

This reminds of the time Ronnie Hawkens the singer bought his 1st Rolls Royce in Toronto. He wandered in to the Dealership with bluegenes on and a dirty white T-shirt. He needad a shave and was asked to leave rather abruptly when he asked how much is that car in the window. After they escorted him out he went to the Bank and returned with $25.000 in a plain brown bag and asked again if this was enough, That got their attention as he drove the car home. This is a true story that took place around 1970 and I still laugh over it and never dress up when buying a car. I like to keep them guessing.

Its not about how people are dressed, normally more about how they carry themselves. Of course you get surprised. But day after day of dealing with people who waste your time, you get a certian way... especially when the pay isnt that great.

Meet, identify, deal. Low end sales anyway.

I guess I didn't carry myself very well looking through their glass cases.
