Gurgie's back in a P car
« on: August 16, 2024, 01:51:46 pm »
Down in Toronto picking up the new (to me) car. Don't think it's gonna be too much of a surprise to most on here... it's a 2006 Porsche 911.

Have been watching these for quite a few years, even before I got the SLK-55,  but got the Benz instead at the time.

Was hoping to get a Carerra S, but this popped up for a reasonable price & was well equipped! Options include, leather heated sports seats, Bose audio, self dimming mirrors, sport steering wheel, 19" Carerra Sport wheels with coloured crests & bi-xenon headlight package.

I'm still down in the Beaches in Toronto, so the car hasn't been cleaned up by me yet, but here are a couple pics.

Nice, so I assume this is just a "base" model Carrera?  Must be a nice change to go to a manual rear engined vehicle from the automatic V8 you had the past few years.  How did it compare to the price you got for the Benz?  Did you have to pony up any extra?  With the added back seat and likely a bit more cargo capacity, do you think you'll end up using it more than the Benz?

May you have many happy miles of motoring with your new P car.

Yeah, the SLK sale covered about half of the cost of this purchase.

Yes, base model with the 3.6 flat 6, 325hp, but well optioned like I said. It's a fairly light car at 3075lbs, about 400lbs lighter than my SLK was. It doesn't have that crazy low end grunt that the V8 in the SLK had, but the flat 6 loves to scream to 7000rpms. Sounds soooooo good, but the car needs an exhaust to open up the sound more. That might be something for next spring/summer.

I did use the SLK quite a bit, put over 30k kms on it in just under 4yrs. I imagine this will get the same, perhaps more. I'm thinking I'll get the Porsche roof crossbars for it so I can put my Thule box on & Bella & I can do some longer road trips.
