Looks great Rob, congrats!

I like the idea of the roof rack/thule.  The utilitarian 911 is a nice look and would be great for those golf trips.

. Sounds soooooo good, but the car needs an exhaust to open up the sound more. That might be something for next spring/summer.

I highly recommend a Fister exhaust. Had one on my 996.

They modify your OEM exhaust into a sport exhaust.

Reasonably priced, great workmanship and sounds good!!

Congrats! Great car. Everytime I see a new 911 they look soooo fat they just make these so much more desirable.

It's the shipping & exchange right now that kills the Fister product. I've gotta find a good custom muffler shop that can do that mod (Gundo hack) for me if I bring the stock cans in. Seems like a lot of guys in the GTA have had it done at various muffler shops, just need to find a local one that could do it for me.

Congrats! Very sharp looking unit. Aren’t these also a fairly reliable vehicle?
They're "okay" reliable. They are known for bore scoring issues, so I had this car checked for that during the PPI. Car is 18yrs old now, so I certainly am not expecting it to be perfect, it's gonna have issues. This one was well maintained & I have a pretty good service history on it from this owner going back to 2016. It's still on the original clutch at 119,000kms, so that will need to be done soon-ish, though it felt fine to me. The suspension is all original as well, so that will need to be refreshed eventually as well, but again, it seemed to be okay. It passed the Ontario safety inspection, but it was noted the rear brakes are close to end of life, but that's an easy DIY job for me. Some other items like the starter, AC condenser, plugs, coils, drive belt are all fairly fresh, so that's a good thing. I still have to go through the folder of receipts he provided to me.

Thanks Mike!

Gotta golf trip coming up end of September, so the racks might be in place by then.

Awesome!! Congrats.

Something something IMS bearing. Whats the deal with that? Is this generation affected?

I saw a Cayman that I fell in love with on AutoTrader. I think its an attainable dream car for me in the near future.

Beautiful looking. Just a quick wash and it looks great. I guessing it has not seen much winter driving.

Thanks!

This has the stronger single row non serviceable bearing. So the better one. Honestly, the earlier bearing is fine as well, but my Porsche specialist buddy recommends those get replaced with an upgraded bearing. He said the earlier smaller ones have the smaller nut & that's actually the failure point. The bigger one (like in my car) has the larger nut holding it in place & is much stronger. From what he's seen, it's not the bearing that fails, but the nut shears off, causing the failure.

Thats good to hear.

I just looked it up, it seems like the affected years are 1997-2005.

Congrats! The simple black on black looks great, and isn't super common on these. Good choice.

A little Porsche repair today. Climate control buttons were originally a rubber type & know to degrade over time. New ones off Amazon for $48 & about an hour & a half of my time & back to new!

Not a fan of the cheezy Pioneer aftermarket stereo either. Pulled it out to see how they did the wiring & it looks like they didn't butcher any of the factory wiring, thank God! I'm gonna go for the Porsche PCCM+, it's pricey, but will give a factory look & give me all the bells & whistles.

Son #1 is cleaning his car interior, so since everything is out, I'm gonna do the 911 quickly now too.

Yes, I will probably track this a little bit. Just wanna get it sorted out first, mechanically I think it would be okay, but I'm not 100% sure, so I wanna shake it down a bit just driving it & then see if it needs anything.
