Mazda CX-9 2012 OBD2 codes
« on: July 25, 2024, 08:46:14 pm »
Hi everyone,

Looking to buy a 2012 CX-9 GS FWD. I ran an OBD2 scan on the vehicle and I see 1 confirmed DTC and 246 other codes. I am not sure what to make of this. I have never seen so many DTCs before. Can anyone check the attached OBD2 report and comment. Any insights are appreciated.

Why would you bother wasting your time? Lots of good cars out there.

Don't disagree with the first part of your statement in principle. But when and where are these ‘lots of good cars’ available?. The used car market is crazy expensive right now. Toyotas particularly are out of control. The CX-9 is a great 7 seater but available in very low volumes. Few and far between. I do not have a great many options at these price points.

Any technical insight on the original question is appreciated

+1 on Google the codes. Even with how helping this forum can be, I don't think anybody is going to figure out 200+ codes.

If you want more help on locating a vehicle, feel free to put your location (at least an area), budget, what you want, etc.

One thing I've seen is if a modern vehicles battery goes dead or very low, it can produce tons of codes. Our RX was like that when we bought it. On our test drive I brought a scan tool and it detected tons of them, and seemed like from everywhere

They cleared them all, sorted the battery and the car has been fine ever since.

I think they still used the V6 borrowed from Ford.
