Buy and flip to Dante, upgrade to newer Highlander?

Wrong engine (for me) and possibly trim,  but otherwise nice car.

4 bangers was just a thought in order to get a newer (2020), CPO car which would be worry free for a while plus option to partially finance for 24 months @ 3.99.

I'm still looking for a F25 - ideally either 2012 28i (N52) or 2017 35i (N55). Note the trims are not interchangable between MYs.
If this would've been an 35i with Enhanced package I would've inquired....

No idea what trim it is.  But it has leather, heated rear seats, NAV, and automatic hatch.

It's a US car, so not sure how that changes things

It's a nice unit. Looks like Saddle Brown leather which is VERY nice. Enhanced package I mentioned it's just my personal preference.
If you get it for free or cheap, since it's a 2015, I'd say give it a consideration especially that you know it was maintained and it's low mileage.
You are in GTA IIRC or am I wrong? If I'm not, I can point you to a mechanic that would make maintenance very affordable.

If you end up getting it, just do yourself a favor and replace transmission and AWD fluids given mileage & age.

Edit: I guess I'm wrong you are not in GTA....so never mind.

No worries, I'm in Ottawa

It's been well maintained. New brakes and tires, just had a new coil installed.

And yeah, the Tan leather is nice.

Transmission fluid is often overlooked by unsuspecting owners as BMW says it's "lifetime" so not part of maintenance schedule. It's not according to ZF.
Not sure about AWD fluids, but they often get overworked. Fluids are not that expensive so cheap insurance. But you already know that.

Looked at the picture again - I think it's a loaded version (360 camera in the middle of the front grill) and US version (lower bumper inserts are different on US models).

I like it more and more.... Go for it! I'm sure there is a good honest BMW indy shop in Ottawa where you can service it for reasonable money.

Not yet.  They will keep driving it and will replace it with a newer X3, it'll be their third one.

Leaning towards taking it, not having the catastrophic chain guide makes a massive difference.

Tempted to get it, sell it and my Highlander, and get into a newer Highlander.   But like I mentioned earlier, my wife really likes the X3 so that's going to be a factor.

The only downside, is that my '07 HL is pretty sorted, drives great, and the rust is being kept at bay thanks to regular rust-proofing and washes.

Make sure the Highlander is not too new, or else it will become a charitable donation to Africa or the Middle East.

Some have additional insurance fees added on because they get stolen so often, large fees.

Well, I've had my rental Corolla with a real key for almost two weeks now, and it hasn't been stolen yet, so it's looking good  ;D

So, this plan has been mothballed.

My F-i-L looked into importing the X3.  His conclusion is that it's basically impossible to do, and not worth the hassle.  He made it sound like the process has changed from when he last did it (early 2000's).  Oh well.

It's not impossible.

There is more footwork if buying privately.

Less daunting buying from dealer.

The biggest hiccup is you require IRS numbers these days. PITA from individual, no biggie from dealer.

You must be relieved to keep the HL!!

Any idea when the process changed?  With the Jeep Grand Cherokee it was just a form and some work by Canadian Tire to install a DRL module.

Yeah, happy to keep the Highlander. While I was looking forward to something different, keeping an ageing BMW on the road was not very appealing.  My wife is pretty disappointed though.

I had looked into Import Buddy to import an XL7. They do the paperwork including IRS export number and tax stuff.
