Wipers to fit 2023 Mazda CX-5
« on: March 15, 2024, 03:07:05 pm »
I normally just buy wipers at Costco. Been doing that for years. They are cheap and work for me. But the current Michelin Guardians at Costco have no clips or application to fit a 2020 to 2023 Mazda CX5. It seems these CX-5 wipers have quite a unique clip design. Maybe it change in 2020. I do not know.

I certainly do not want to pay dealer prices for wipers.

Been searching Amazon for a set of wipers. I would like a set of 3 wipers that includes the rear wiper. Many wipers come up as proper fit according to Amazon fit guide but I do not trust that at all.  When I see I set that is supposed to fit I search reviews for anyone mentioning using it on a 2023 Mazda Cx-5 and come up with goose eggs.

So a few times I posted questions on Amazon asking reviewers directly if they have used it on a 2023 Mazda CX-5.

Here is the question:
For 2023 the Mazda CX-5 changed the fitment for the wipers. Very unique design. Most will not fit. Has anyone use these wipers on a 2023 Mazda CX-5?

Here is the stupid answer I get
"Working on my 2020 Forester"

WTF. I get these same stupid answers every time I post the question.  >:(

OK OK  .... I am ranting. Does anyone with a 2023 CX-5 know where I can get reasonably priced replacement wipers?
If you want more in life you have to make an effort.

I have found over the years that OEM wipers are worth the cost.  I've had the ones on my Tundra for years now and they still wipe perfect.  Same goes for the ones on the MDX.  Other off the shelf brands seems to last about a year.

Honda has done it right.  You can buy refills and they are pretty inexpensive.

None of that helps you but I'm giving my two cents anyway  :)
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

Worse than that, sometimes aftermarket wipers are noot quite the right length or have oddball complicated universal attachment mechanisms

If you still have the OEM Mazda wipers it looks like Mazda sells wiper refills for a reasonable price:

You need to replace wipers already?

I haven't replaced mine yet, and they're only just starting to get streaky.  I'll be paying attention to this thread to see what you come up with, though.

Even $25 for the full blade seems reasonable. What do the crappy ones at Costco go for? It's been a while, but I'm thinking $17-20?

I used to buy wipers for the GTI at the dealer all the time. Great wipers, and the cost was completely reasonable.

My go to crappy Michelin ones at Costco go for about $12 when on sale at Costco. I tried fancy Bosch Icons but they seemed to perform about the same as the crappy box box ones. They switched to a full beam design in the last year which are even better.

Yeah they are still fine but I always like to have replacements on hand for a quick fix when they fail.

I replace the wipers on both cars once a year,. The Honda is easy as they sell refills,  the Audi I have done at the dealership during its annual maintenance

I recently changed the wiper inserts on my mom's 2021 CX-5 because they were starting to streak. They had not been changed before since she bought the car in the fall of 2021, so just over 2 years of service. Anyways, a complete pair of inserts (including the rear wiper) was around $30 from the Mazda dealer. Made in Japan too. Took about 10 minutes to change out. I would just get the inserts from your dealer the next time you are there.

Thanks... The news that a couple of you have provided about inserts being available at the dealer is a good cost effective solution. Although I think just changing out whole wiper is easier.

Just an update. Was at my Mazda dealer picking up touch up paint. While there I thought to ask price of wiper inserts. He said they were $18 each. $62 for all tax in. Not cheap for just rubber strips!!!!

^ I cursed myself from the post above and had to replace the passenger side wiper on my truck.  $65 tax in.  I didn't do the driver side because its still wiping fine and the cost is $75.  Although inserts are pricey for what they are, much cheaper than the whole wiper and just as easy to change.

I suspect I will end up buying non-OEM wipers. Once I find one that will fit the Mazda that is.

Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach the man to fish and he wakes you up at 5 in the morning.

If you do I recommend to keep the OEM wipers somewhere in the garage in case you ever want to go back to inserts. I switched to non OEM on the RX, like I'd always did with my other vehicles, and threw away the OEM.

Was great for a while, then my go to wipers changed design and didn't quite fit any more, so I trimmed them, then they fell apart on a trip and I spend an hour in the CT parking lot sorting through various ridiculous multi fit adapters before I found a new brand that worked

I ended up going back to inserts but replacing the OEM wiper frames I threw away was quite pricey

Not sure why you wouldn’t just get the inserts slow lane.

I recall in the past going through wipers like donuts. In the end realizing that the cause of "skipping" was the wax used by automatic car washes.

I would try a different dealer. I replaced the wiper inserts (front and rear) on my mom's CX-5 this past winter and it was like $35 taxes in from the Mazda dealer. Can't imagine they would have doubled in price over that time.

My stupid Prius Prime has different wipers than the normal Prius...which makes zero sense.

I'm still trying to figure this one out. The 2 are not compatible.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...
