I always gave this type of tire a wide berth, but looking at tires for the MIL it hit me - they're perfect for her.
In her 80's, she doesn't drive much and seasonal swaps are another thing that lands on us. She maybe uses her Rogue 5-6 times in winter. The snows are DOT-dated from 2009 (!!!!) and the all-seasons are from around 2014, so 8 ticking timebombs (a friend recently blew a tire on her aging Mom's car, tires were stamped 2011).
Putting $2k's worth of tires on a $7k car is not worth it, so I ordered a set of Kuhmo Solus HA-32's. They are winter-certified, so legal to use in winter in Quebec.
$890 all in.
I will probably be the one going for the install, so I'll see how they feel in the dry. At least we won't have to worry about a blowout on a gin run !
