Umm, With this guy why am I not surprise.

https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/tesla-batteries-range/

Briefly: about a decade ago, Tesla rigged the dashboard readouts in its electric cars to display "rosy" projections of driving range, misleading customers into believing they could travel further on a single charge. The company intentionally inflated the estimated range to make customers feel good about their purchase. When customers complained about poor driving range, Tesla created a "Diversion Team" in Las Vegas to cancel as many range-related service appointments as possible to save money and reduce the pressure on service centers. Tesla's aggressive range calculations have led to thousands of complaints from disappointed customers who couldn't achieve the advertised driving range in real-world conditions. Despite fines from regulators and audits by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Tesla's range estimates continue to be a point of concern, and the company's approach to range calculations differs from most other automakers.

Why are lawyers not jumping all over this?
If the Y range is overestimated by 5% then shouldn't a good lawyer get get 5% of the purchase price back to the buyers (minus lawyers fee)?

also i think the EPA should mandate the same tests to estimate range for ALL manufacturers

The EPA required Tesla to reduce the range estimates it wanted to advertise for six of its vehicle models by an average of 3% after conducting its own testing. The EPA has been auditing electric vehicle manufacturers' range testing to ensure compliance with regulations and to address potential discrepancies between advertised and real-world driving ranges.

I thought this was very shady. Tesla used software algorithms to show drivers overly optimistic driving range projections when their cars were fully charged. Once the battery dropped below 50%, the range estimates became more realistic. To avoid drivers getting stranded, Tesla included a "safety buffer" that allowed the car to travel a bit further even after the dash showed an empty battery

Their estimates of destination arrival charge is always overestimated. I mean they work if u drive at 105kmph on the hwy but who does that?
Also in winter they are really really overestimated

Doubt it, I would think it'll be similar to any of the other fuel economy situations that have arisen over the past decade.  Owners will get a smallish cheque in the mail apologizing for the misinformation and it'll be forgotten quickly.

Hyundai and Honda as well, both had to send out cheques to customers.

 :iagree:
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

Haha, that is not how that works at all.

You can look at the Hyundai and Mazda horsepower exaggeration settlements for precedents.

No, to answer your question. doesn't seem it Lol.

Back in March 2020, Musk criticized people who were concerned about the coronavirus, calling them "dumb." He also predicted that the U.S. would have "close to zero new cases" by the end of April, which turned out to be far from reality. Musk questioned the safety of COVID-19 vaccines and made baseless claims about "quite a few negative reactions" to getting a second shot. He likened Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to Hitler, causing uproar and criticism. Despite public health orders, Musk reopened a Tesla factory, where 450 cases of COVID-19 were subsequently recorded.

Musk, While receiving billions in subsidies from the U.S. government, Musk stated that the government shouldn't provide subsidies to companies. He even accused a British cave diver involved in a rescue operation of being a "pedo guy" without evidence. Musk later paid a private investigator $50,000 to dig up dirt on the cave diver.

Tesla was ordered to pay nearly $137 million to a former Black employee who claimed the company ignored racial slurs and derogatory actions towards Black individuals. A female worker also reported rampant sexual harassment and alleged "nightmarish conditions" within the company.

Musk has been known for his explosive behavior, reportedly exploding at executives and lower-ranking workers alike, and allegedly firing those who disagreed with him. Controversially, Musk announced Tesla's headquarters move to Texas one month after the state effectively banned all abortions.

It's funny how brilliance is usually uneven, often the more someone exceeds in one area the more deeply they fail in others

Steve Jobs, Henry Ford, Albert Einstein, all had huge flaws that really hurt them
