The current GX with the tailgate (and wrong direction (Japan) to boot was a no go. This won't be a large volume model but you know those urban ladies; Gotta have their 2 speed transfer case and lockers.  ;D It's too bad the LX grew so much. Back in 470 days it was LX>GX, but now? Who knows. $2/L in a sub 20MPG rig? Rich don't care.

Doesn't the LR4 have a wrong-way-swingin' rear door too?

No. It has a split tailgate design which in my opinion is the best. With the glass up and gate down you have a sheltered place to sit to put on boots etc.. With the glass down you can stand on the tailgate to access the roof. The older LX's had this too, replaced by a cost cutting one piece design.

Ah!  Right, like a Range Rover.  Weird that they went to the swinging door for the Defender now .

One reason: Money. Also they need to hang the spare tire. Should have put the spare on the hood like it belongs. ;D

I'm more interested in the Land Cruiser 250. Any idea when that's coming to Canada and price?
I love it when a plan comes together.

If the GX550 starts at ~$85-87K which is about 5-7K above the current gen Lexus GX460, then I would guess that the LC 250 will be ~5K less than the GX550. Similar to the pricing differential between the loaded Grand Highlander Max ~67K vs Lexus TX ~72K.

What is interesting though are the powertrain differences. The LC 250 comes with the Toyota hybrid max powertrain found in the Tacoma, Tundra, Grand Highlander max, Lexus RX, TX  i.e. 2.4 turbo with electric motors and an 8 speed transmission in this case & tuned for 326 hp/465 lb/ft torque. In contrast, at the introduction the Lexus will only have a 3.4 liter twin turbo V6 tuned for 349 hp/479 lb/ft torque. I would say the electric motor instant torque of the LC will give it comparable or even superior acceleration to the Lexus and better fuel economy.

Crazy but not surprising.

So at $83,500 you only qualify for NuLuxe (I guess this is the code name for some fancy vinyl).

I bet these will fly off the driveways like hot cakes..... :)

Premium      +$9000
Overtrail      +$9000
Luxury        +18,350

NuLuxe (I guess this is the code name for some fancy vinyl).

It's nice stuff.

There were some people here (including a writer) who were raving about the beautiful leather interior in a Lexus after they experienced it first hand.

They were flat out shocked when I told them it was NuLuxe. Some didn't believe me.

I have the "cheap" version in my Prius. SofTex. I gotta tell ya..It looks and feels just like leather. And unlike leather it still looks brand new with 215k on it. And mostly zero maintenance on my part. This isn't like the garbage German "leatherette" of years past.

I do miss the smell of the old Lexus interiors though. Particularly from the Lexus of the 90s. They had a wonderful, unique smell.

So yea, apart from nostalgic angle, I find many of these good synthetics give up little, if anything to leather. And some people even prefer certain types like Alcantara.

How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Anything to finally kill the spindle.

Looks like the Luxury is the one to get and ditch the 22" wheels.

Was it ArticSteve that was saying it was going to start at north of $100K?  Have to say it seems like a pretty decent value proposition in its segment and likely the best looking exterior to my eyes.

This to me signifies that the Toyota platform cousin Land Cruiser will likely start in the mid $70's, which is the vehicle that we could realistically replace the CR-V with in about 5 years.  Hopefully the availability issues are solved by then.

Are you looking at the spindle on the ‘23 model?  The ‘24 is much less ridiculous.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

Yes, I was looking at the '23 model.  Thankfully, the '24 is less insane.

I thought on the 2024 that the spindle was banished but you are right, it's still there sort of.. More like a Fu-Manchu mustache though

This is nice to hear, also have softex in the Sienna. Its certainly not premium, but as long as its durable I am happy. Its certainly much easier to clean than the cloth seats in the wife's previous Acadia.

If we are talking those plasticky finished leathers like what my my Ridgeline has at that point might as well go full synthetic. There is no comparison though to a nice full grain leather like what is in the LR4.

Our RX has the top trim leather upgrade and it's great. The interior still smells like expensive leather, 7 years on

But...the Crosstrek has Subaru's Startex and it's been impressive so far even when cold, better than cheap leather

"North"    ???

Page 1

Medium equipped unit will be $100K in Canada.  Twin turbo V6 shoe horned in.  Lease only I suppose @8.5% which is what Lexus Canada is requiring for the RX.  Tax in the GX will be a mere $2000 a month for 48 mth.  Can't wait to jump on that.

$86K plus Freight and Tax = $100K

Although I think it will be $100K before tax.
