He has left himself an out with the “first impressions” and tire pressure thing.

No doubt he’ll get the tire pressure sorted and the thing will start to grow on him during the week.  :)
My comment wasn't tied to him specifically..but others.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Actually, I found better pavement - that helps a lot! No pavement helps too. Got it back under 17 l/100 km.

is it a hybrid?

Nope, 100% gasser. There's even no start-stop. The week is not over, but clearly the Sequoia (hybrid) is better on fuel.

Ooof, now the GX has a different engine combo than the new 4Runner, right?

The GX has a twin turbo 3.4 L V6 (349 hp), with a hybrid version promised for later. The Land Cruiser has a hybridized turbo 4 (326 hp), also available on the 4Runner. Base 4Runners have a 2.4 turbo 4 gasser (278 hp). C/D reports "mediocre fuel economy" for the GX - seems my results so far are par for the course  ;)

In a 109k$ GX 550 this week, first impressions after 1st drive: easily the worst thing I've driven since the original smart fortwo. Hitting an ant at residential speeds shakes the whole structure, and on the highway you fell the same degree of control you'd have riding a barrell in the Niagara river. My Expedition tester was more refined. The 22" tires probably don't help here - I need to check the pressure in these things.

Are you trolling us  :rofl2:

The doctor next door came to kick tires, and I sent him to look at a Kia Telluride instead. He did find that the interior of the GX looks cheap for the price, and 3rd row up there's no trunk. Not much space in the 2nd and 3rd row either. I'm at 15.7 l/100 km so far - there's that, too.

A Telluride, what the hell man?!?!? Thats just mean. While I agree with you that this new GX is more Africa outback cruiser than Kardashian mobile sending someone to a Kyundai is just mean, has he done something to you?? Catcalled the missus, what did he do to deserve that?!!?!
Lighten up Francis.....

Haven't had the promised Challenge Stradale ride yet  ;D It's in queue for an engine out service so he's not driving it this summer.

Telluride has the best Kyundai drivetrain in it, by far, reliability-wise. And It's a C/D 10-Best vehicle, so praised by many. I did recommend a CX-70/90 too, with full disclosure of all the recalls. His wife's new Q5 had a major mechanical mishap in its first month, so he's getting over premium brands real quick.

Edit, he saw the new Lexus TX, found it very bland for the price.

That's not saying much...

Checked the tires with my trusty decades-old pen gauge - the 22" Dunlops are precisely at the recommended 33 psi all around.

No such thing as an "engine out" on any variant of the 360 or Challenge Stradale - the 355 was the last V8 F-car to require engine out. A "major" on that Challenge is a belt service, which is a day's worth of labor with a slow technician, and like $3-4K all-in. Have one in the shop right now getting a major, full fluids, and possibly a clutch. Even for the clutch, the motor stays in the car.

Hope he isn't getting hosed - send him my way if needed.
