Hire's Much Lamer Truck Thing

I took in this '04 GX 470 on trade for REALLY cheap. Had some frame rust that had to be repaired, which I did. Polished the headlights and charged up the air conditioner. I figured it's really the pragmatic and practical solution to the "one truck/SUV thing in the family" now that we're getting rid of Mrs. Hire's V90CC, over the Touareg V10. Going to plate it and keep it for now.

One family owned, a good family friend actually, since new. Have all the records from Lexus of Richmond Hill, 227,000km, and it's the Ultra Lux model. Navi, three row seating, and Mark Levinson audio. Has new brake lines, new rear air shocks, and 2021 date-coded tires.

Our very own DriverJeff almost bought this thing, until we found him a '13 GX460 Executive that served his needs much better.

Issues to still address:
-Rear wiper busted
-Rear view camera not working

Honestly I'm kind of beside myself on letting the Touareg go. Have it MOSTLY sorted, but there's always one thing after another. I love how quirky and interesting it is, but the reality is that my wife might be driving this SUV occasionally and the probability of the V10TDI leaving her stranded is way higher than this GX470, which drives smoother than butter. I might just list both for sale and whichever goes first, goes.

Looks good. If I owned a GX470 I would just remove the third row.

I too like those... This is the same unit you had for sale for a while?
Those seats must go from the trunk.... They take so much space...

That'll do quite nicely I'm sure.

Looks like it's in great shape!  Although, those fold up seats sure seem to chew up a lot of cargo room....are they removable?  I think they'd spend their life in the garage if it was mine.

This is based on the Land Cruiser right?  Friend has had a few of those he imported from the US.....loves them.

The LX series are based on the Land Cruiser.

GX are based on 4Runner/Tacoma/Land Cruiser Prado.

Yeah correct; the body is PERFECT, but the frame had some Swiss cheese. It's weird because it's been Krown'd almost every year.

That thing is still tempting me but so far away...

Roll up and it's yours... if someone I know and like buys it, I'll just keep the stupid Touareg and keep shooting myself in the foot.

It’s hard to find a clean LX. And even harder to find a nice V10 Touareg.

One will be a easy sell…..the other, not so much.

Congrats on whichever you decide to keep!

Yeah, the new ones are not that big and the older ones seem smaller yet

Just saw the V8 on the endgate, sweet! Had the same on my work Tundra of that vintage, that is a very nice engine

Very nice!  I think I have seen every version of these as I was spending some time in Utah. GX, LX, LC....they are all over the place. Enjoy!

Speaking of big and small, anyone else a little disappointed by the new Sequoia/LX’s lack of cargo and 3rd row space? I know they had to fit the battery somewhere but the Highlander Max/TX manages to pack in a lot more space. I’d avoid Sequoia/LX unless you need the towing capacity.
