The site seems to require registration. Are only RWD models coming? What batteries will they be equipped with?

More details on Reuters
They are referring only to RWD, LFP.

Already listed on TC
Gone but not forgotten in chronological order: 2019 Volt, 2013 Volt, 2014 Spark EV, 2012 Volt and many others before...

Interesting. $45,850 after taxes and rebates in ON. Is this the breaking point in the ICE vs EV battle? I know if I didn't buy the hybrid I'd be scheduling a test drive.

Superchargers give Tesla a big competitive advantage IMO.

P.s.II  Does it look short sighted to anyone else that we will use our tax dollars to help Chinese auto industry?  :-\

Website says $59,990 for the new RWD model, which was available for a very brief period of time. It does qualify for the $5000 credit.
I love it when a plan comes together.

What irony.  Given the increasing coal powered energy plants in China.

Just had a look (hate their website layout) and no mention of a rwd Y.

On the model page it says "Dual motor" so I did not venture any further in. I guess the above comes from hitting the "order now" button? (Hey Musk: what's wrong with "Build and price"?)

So the $45 quoted by AN Canada is in USD as $59,990 is around $57k net after taxes and QC rebates. Still very expensive for a goofy-looking blob. The Chinese plant may have better build quality though  :run:

It seem the RWD was very recently add-on (Friday or Saturday, JIT for SVEM?). You are right, Model Y front page shows AWD only for now.

From what I read, the Shanghai Tesla plant delivers good quality assembly & paint. This TMY RWD still too expensive for my wallet but is $10K less than AWD version, admissible in QC for now $7K rebate + Fed $5K, reasonable lead time for delivery compare to some Korean or even us build Bolt (!), I'm tempted but I'll content myself few more years if my 9.5 y.o, 180K km Volt still doing its stuff...

These will be imported from China
And they will be 55K in ON before taxes, With rebates and will be cheaper in some other provinces (BC, QC)
Even the standard model now qualifies. So that one will be 65K plus taxes.
LFP batteries can be charged to 100% capacity (recommended by Tesla) while Li to 90%
So the usable range of RWD Y is: 384 KM and the AWD Y is: 478km. Is it worth paying 10K extra for 94KM. For most people, the answer will be No.
Gas prices keep going up and Hydro companies in Ontario are introducing Ultra low charging rates. Assume 20KM  a year, premium fuel and oil changes and other maintenance expect to save $250-300 a month. Assuming you keep it for 8 years the savings will be $25,000 minimum. So the base model will effectively cost 25K plus taxes on 55K.

I see more Ys than 3's in our neck of the woods. This will sell even more.

These will not ship to US as US now has regulations on where the battery is made and the vehicle is assembled. We may get those regulations soon.

$59,900 - it’s in the Tesla website right now.

Indeed - $45k before rebates seemed about right for an appliance-white rwd blob, but $60k = no way.
