LFP batteries can be charged to 100% capacity (recommended by Tesla) while Li to 90%
So the usable range of RWD Y is: 384 KM and the AWD Y is: 478km. Is it worth paying 10K extra for 94KM. For most people, the answer will be No.
Gas prices keep going up and Hydro companies in Ontario are introducing Ultra low charging rates. Assume 20KM a year, premium fuel and oil changes and other maintenance expect to save $250-300 a month. Assuming you keep it for 8 years the savings will be $25,000 minimum. So the base model will effectively cost 25K plus taxes on 55K.
I see more Ys than 3's in our neck of the woods. This will sell even more.
These will not ship to US as US now has regulations on where the battery is made and the vehicle is assembled. We may get those regulations soon.
