2026 VW ID 2all
« on: March 17, 2023, 12:20:14 pm »
2026 ID. 2all. Golf MK4, from the front, Umm, maybe a mark 1, from the back. Will it come to Canada, I've no idea. Maybe the new plant in St Thomas, has something to do with it.  :-\

The Volkswagen brand is continuing the success story of its compact cars in the age of electric mobility and is providing a first glimpse of an all-electric Volkswagen costing less than 25,000 euros with the ID. 2all concept car. Initial facts: front-wheel drive, range of up to 450 km, innovative technological features such as Travel Assist, IQ.LIGHT or Electric Vehicle Route Planner and a new Volkswagen design language. The production version will be based on the MEB Entry platform and is one of ten new electric models that Volkswagen will launch by 2026.

I don't want this, I want a Golf R Wagon instead, or just the Passat wagon would be okay.

Hey, there's that old saying, "you can't have your cake and eat it too." VW is going all-electric, the whole hog, damn the consequences. Silly question: I thought everyone was on the SUV bandwagon these days. I think I might like one if VW ditches the silly name. Could you really say that name out loud and make it sound cool at a party?

I'm hoping that with Germany and a bunch of other euro countries stating that they want a new classification for ICE engines so that they can still be sold after the 2035 all EV mandate.  Something about sustainable fuel.  Which isn't crazy really seeing as there is a Porsche that is powered by fuel made by water, and even the Indy Car series is powered by fuel made from sugar cane waste.

You're talking about cars running on e-fuels, right? Yes, they met the other day. Germany is putting pressure on Brussels as of last week, which has put a hold on it for now. The EU wants zero emissions by 2050, so by getting rid of ICE by 2035, they can be on track to achieve their targets. E-fuels could have better use on hard-to-decarbonize parts of the economy. EVs are not  carbon neutral anyway, but it's a start, I guess.

I like what I see but wonder if Tesla will beat them to the punch. The more the merrier though. If they can sell it here for under 30k before rebates, even with FWD it will fly off the shelves. Any word on the battery chemistry?

Pretty nice design for a Golf cart. If they make it indeed with 450 km range, fast charging for under $35K CAD they will sell pretty well I suspect.

VW hasn't said anything about concept’s battery pack capacity so far . All we know is, Its a battery that can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in around 20 minutes and a range almost 450KM.

I love it, at 35k price point I'd totally get one of these to putter around and something bigger to do road trips/get mulch etc.

It's just nice to see an electric CAR rather than another electric CUV.

Oh, for sure and yet to sell in any significant numbers it needs to cost the same as its ICE equivalent, after taxes and rebates.
