Hah, cool buy!   :pimp:

Big barges like these were cheap as hell back when I first started driving.  In fact, from what I remember more people I knew bought barges like these rather than muscle, or sports cars.  They were great for cruising around in with as many people as you could cram in and most would get sound systems installed that were double the cost of the car itself.  I bought a 64 Lincoln Continental back in 79 almost a year before I got my license.  Plan was to fix it up by the time i got my license but my parents got sick of seeing it parked in the yard and made me sell it before it got stuck there all winter.  ;D

All the windows work even the sunroof. Only the cruise control and indicators (turn on but don't blink so I am hoping its the flasher unit) don't from what I found yesterday.

Given the lazy rear diff ratio (2.73:1 plus an overdrive automatic) the performance is not bad. I think part of it that old moldy trick of giving lots of throttle with little pedal movement initially and the low down torque (255lb-ft @2000 rpm). I get the impression flooring does not give much more than driving normally.

0-60 in 11 secs and 78 MPH through the 1/4?

There were lots of engines over the years. Usually bad ones.

250 cu in (4.1 L) HT-4100 V8
252 cu in (4.1 L) Buick V6
307 cu in (5.0 L) Oldsmobile V8
350 cu in (5.7 L) LF9 Diesel V8
368 cu in (6.0 L) L62 V8
425 cu in (7.0 L) L33/L35 V8
5.0 L LV2 V8
5.0 L Chevrolet V8
5.7 L L05/LLO V8

The worst are the diesels and HT-4100s as they were a disaster. The 8-6-4 368cid could be made reliable if you de-activated the fuel economy cylinder deactivation system.
The Olds 307 was reliable but not powerful. The 425 offered really early is good but not good on fuel. The Chevy 305 and 350 are the best engines but only offered at the end which often gets you the lame (in my opinion) composite headlight front end. The ideal car would be a 5.7L Chevy engine with a seamed beam headlight conversion plus the true wire wheels. But then we are talking real money. I bought this one for not quite beater challenge money but close.

I believe so. A concept before its time or technical maturity really as it is common and workable now

I bought this one for not quite beater challenge money but close.

Initial details leaked out!

That being said I approve of this purchase. It deserves a strictly stock revival.

I wasn't far off on the performance numbers.

Way cool. I did not see that coming.

Haha! Sweet buy! That that makes you the only other Cadillac owner in here now  ;D I like these a lot, there are a couple absolutely perfect ones that show up at local car events around here and I always admire them. The interiors are pretty impressive, maybe not in photos, but sitting in one and playing around with all the 'modern' features framed in a space that still feels like it's the mid-70's is a bit of a trip.

I bet it's still a great highway car, even with the age on it....Those lazy GM carb'd V8s really feel at home cruising on the highway.

The middle 'seat' in the front made my laugh. My DTS has the same thing, nearly 20's years later, pretty well useless these days as any child small enough to comfortably sit there needs to be in a booster seat by law. interesting novelty though.

Hey Firm you and Dent aren’t the only Caddy owners here! I’ve two, this 90 STS I bought last summer from a estate and a 85 coupe Deville in the same beige as Dents.

There is the missing hub cap. I think I am going need a replace plus a new spare tire! Also that tiny jack is not going to cut it for this car.

Roof is in very poor. Worst part of the car.

This was the seller's other car ... a 600hp or so Nissan Skyline GTR. Slightly different.

A fix for that roof would be a nice thick pile faux fur.

Here is my dilemma. The Caddy is slightly over GBC. Not a problem. I can take a few penalty points as it fits the vibe of the event very well. But I don't have a good these for it yet.

I also have our 2006 Hyundai Elantra which fits the GBC budget but is less interesting. We were going to make it into a terrible DeLorean replica from Back to the Future which would be a fun theme.
