BIG car.  Little motor.  And a CVT.  What a winning combo!  ;D All the journos seem to have been primed by Honda to rave about the AMAZING fuel economy.  And that's a good thing, but not something I care a great deal about.

Can't get excited about these either, especially where I can get a Civic Si, with a brilliant manual, and get a combined fuel mileage close to this Hybrid Accord (so far I am averaging 6L/100kms since I bought last April).

You are definitely the minority, of course. I'm sure the only folks who'll lament the passing of a stick-shift Accord are those of us here who wouldn't have bought one anyway.

My stick-shift Jetta is nearly as spacious as the Accord and I'm averaging 5.8 L/100 km overall over the past few years I've had it.  Astonishingly efficient.

It is definitely an evolution.  But no one is buying sedans anymore and it is clear that Honda is putting more $ into their SUV's.

It is still likely the best built and most reliable offering out there in the class - certainly better than any Hyundai / Kia at that pricing, and probably still more engaging to drive than the Camry.

Good lord I'd love to buy an Accord wagon.  And am not at all interested in the sedan.

In this hybrid?? I believe it has a 2.0L NA and calling it a CVT is a stretch  :P  Electric motor(s) drive the front wheels directly up to a certain speed, so you have an EV-like response to the go pedal, while over a certain speed limit the ICE connects to the wheels, again as a direct drive. I really like this car, except maybe the wheel design or the air vent placement. Just wish it didn't cost so much in Canada.

Don't forget that he is a Hyundai Slappie.  And we don't want to talk about their transmissions....

Here is an intriguing part. Multistage injection = port injection?

IMO, this is about as good as it gets for a hybrid sedan.  He seems to think so too.

Crazy Lexus would use that nasty plastic wood stuff. Other than the face, the plastic wood and the cheapie stamped steel suspension components this looks to be a nice choice.

It's real wood.  Bamboo, actually. Less than 1mm thick..but still wood!   :)

Yamaha Fine Technologies does the wood trim.  Same division that does the wood in their pianos.

Technically speaking, Honda hybrids have no transmissions.
