Good review Jeff.

This isn't a segment that particularly captivates me, but if I had to drive to Florida I would definitely welcome something spacious, smooth and comfortable and not give much of a fig about cornering limits and such.  I've generally leaned toward the Telluride in the past, but have been recently disappointed by their abandonment of the SO cool amber rectangular DRLs.

Wouldn't your Genesis be basically perfect for a drive to Florida?

Yes - for a car.  But I'll give these CUVs their due for their more airy and spacious cabin and higher seating position for looooong drives.  I don't do that nearly often enough to seriously consider buying one.  And driving to Ottawa or Montreal in my Genesis isn't any kind of a hardship.  Realistically, that's about as far as I drive in one shot these days.

Glad to see I'm not alone  That and the previous, elegant IP is gone too.

That front end is pretty bad. The Kia looks a lot better.

Is it me or does that grill look like scales? Hyundai Armadillo anyone?

Oakville buyers seem to disagree.  I must see 6 or 7 Palisades for every Telluride.  Maybe more.  And I'm seeing a LOT of this newest model with the over-the-top grill.

I personally prefer the Palisade styling over the Telluride.

I personally prefer the Palisade styling over the Telluride.

Given that these are essentially identical under the skin, it's probably a good thing that the styling is different enough inside and out to appeal to buyers with different aesthetic preferences.

That makes a lot more sense than the way GM handles the Yukon/Tahoe.

I think I'd still pick the Kia over the Hyundai....in terms of looks I prefer rugged vs luxe.

:iagree: I'd still give the nod to the Telluride - but it's a closer call for me now since both were refreshed.

And our big tank outsells both combined...  :rofl2:

Jokes aside, I still find the Palisade pretty overwrought personally.

I'm in the Telluride in two weeks. Looking forward to a winter week with it - my summer test back in 2019 netted me an even 11.0 l/100 km in my typical urban mixed driving, impressive for the size of the thing and the conventional drivetrain (apart from the Atkinson cycle). Lots of stares and questions when I first had it - it was a very early unit; once the market caught up to it Kia had waiting lists before waiting lists became an industry-wide thing.

The Atlas sales, I must admit, surprised the hell out of me since, anecdotally, I don't seem to see many of them around. But, if buyers genuinely need a 3-row 'ute, I do recommend the big Vee-Dub thanks to its massive interior space, and frankly, I find it the best looking of the segment.
