Yes indeed.  Two on my street, actually.  I actually like the exterior look but I was a fan of the original Tourag.

Just checked and in Edmonton here there are 90 new for sale starting at $43,000 while there are 15 Pilots starting at $58,000

And 7 Tellurides averaging $70,000 each

The Atlas appeals to traditional VW buyers who needed something bigger. A friend of mine got one when his second kid was on the way after a couple of Jettas and a Golf. Was just talking to a colleague about his and he mentioned having two Jettas previously.

Yeah they're big here (ditto the 5-seater version), this despite near Tahoe levels of "fuel economy". Impeccable room and timeless squared-up styling are helping sales, as well as pricing.

That's always been the way for the Korean offerings.  More for less.  But what you end up in the long haul is less.  Their engines are just that, engines.  The styling is gaudy on the Hyundai unit for sure.  The Kia unit a bit more refined.

The Atlas looks way better, but it's a VW; slow/bad mpg/really bad purchase.

VW just killed the V6 for all Atlas variants, starting with the revised 2024. 2.0t only from now on - that should help observed fuel economy, but towing capacity, not so much.

That's a big switch. Of the 90 Atlas for sale here, only 1 has the 4 cyl

Power of the 4 is up though to 269, almost the same as the old V6, with more torque. Don't think anyone buys a gas VW for long term reliability anyway

True. Although the majority of current Atlas is V6. Will people buy the four? Output is just numbers on a page. How ift feels/works will be another matter. Really it should have a nice V8.

This 2L 4 pot announcement (which I'm relying on as fact) in the size of a vehicle like the Atlas speaks to the eventual failure of VW in NA.  Their USA made vehicles are just junk.  Terrible reliability. 

Germany and German industry is reeling from the Ukraine war.  The Germans put all their marbles in Putin's Russia.  People have no idea how facked that country is.  Most of their base industrial inputs came from Russia.   BASF is currently moving any operation it can to the US Gulf coast.

The Canadian operation will not survive.  Other than the low volume German made GTI, what else is there?  Tiguan, Taos, Jetta, GlI ...

People buy the V6 because it's what's ordered - and because it's the only engine offered in the upper trims, which are >70% of our sales. The I4 - even today - already drives better. The new one is leagues superior to the outgoing V6 and even tows more easily thanks to the extra torque. We do not foresee major adoption concerns.

As for the other comment foretelling the "end of the Canadian operations," I wish I was so good at telling myself stories.
