So would the majority of these be hitting the used-car market?    Just wondering how it goes if you've already been paid out by insurance.
I'd imagine if the insurance companies paid out the owners already, then these would go the insurance companies to send off to auction to recoup some of their costs.

They missed the opportunity to name all the companies involved;  cargo, trucking, freights, the specific harbor yard :rofl2:

The port of Montreal has been run by the mob forever. This is probably just a drop in the bucket to make the cops look good & turn the other way in regards to other illegal :censor: that goes on there.

The port itself is a federal entity that runs the infrastructure (rail, roads, power, docks) - tons of good people there, and I work with them at the dayjob for major infrastructure interface projects.

Then you have other layers - first, the private operators of the container and bulk terminals.

The problem lies below them, with the strong-arm union that has monopoly on manual labour and that supplies workers to the terminal operators - The Martime Employer Association -  that's where the trouble lies.

Why do you think Quebec still gets oil from tankers run down the St Lawrence rather than a nice pipeline from Western Canada? Huge offloading "fees"

I know the title of this thread is The Car Market is turning; turning in terms of price, availability etc. But in a different way, the car market is turning.....ugly.... yes it' subjective, but this epidemic of placing the headlights below the running lights has car designers, lemming like, competing with each other to see who can turn out the ugliest grill, one only it's mother would love!! And now GM has jumped head first into this stampede with all three redesigned for 2025 large SUV's, arguably it's most profitable vehicles, wearing this polarizing design language. If I get back into a large BOF SUV, it will probably be a Wagoneer, with it's classical looks.

Really don’t mind this trend in some applications. The new Yukon looks great to me. The redesigned Escalade not so much (2025 refresh).

Wasn’t it 2013/14 when Jeep first introduced this in the Cherokee? Back the. I thought it looked terrible, but it actually grew on me.

Yeah, it’s ugly, but not a deal breaker for me.

As an aside, our 2011 turned over 300k km yesterday. Would love to drive it to 500k, but at the rate we’re putting miles on it, I think the rust will take it out first.

Still planning on a new Suburban with the 3.0 diesel as an eventual replacement. Maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll finally put a decent grill on it for the 2029 refresh.  ;D

Don't find the GM versions of this bad at all. The Mitsui Outlander I really can't get used to though

Like I said, lemmings.....

One of the original ugly ducklings. Having just about recovered from the Bangle butt, BMW decided to have another go at ugliness

And Hyundai's effort at overwrought grills plus the numerous light elements

And just look at the number of light elements in this Nissan grill

In comparison, the classically conservative Toyota Grand Highlander. Even the spindle grill is unobtrusive.
