How much can I get for me 2006 Lexus rx400h?   Some prices are outrageous out there but again mine is not the best looking.
-timing belt needs to be done
-my rear left suspension (strut mount I think) it doing the clocking sound so probably needs to be replaced.
-the brakes are  just over year old ish. the tires too
-small rust spot on rear fenders....
303K

I does run smooth though

Private sale all day long. Not much... but people love to export those.

Learned the hard way with a F150. Washed the engine, went on a trip a few days later. Started misfiring like crazy, the water seeped past the spark plug boots. What a mess. Wrecked one coil, got it running smoothly again and found the truck was way down on power. Turns out the unspent fuel from the misfire plugged the catalytic converter. Haven’t washed an engine since to be honest.

Good to know! Guess I'll be more cautious. Some of these engines are a pain in the butt to work on too. Seems all the modern pickups have half the engine hidden under the cowl

I find a bit of purple all purpose cleaner, a bit of scrubbing and some light shower from the hose has never failed me. On my old XJ Cherokee I used to hit that with all the might of the local coin wash to get the mud and muskeg out from the engine compartment, never had one issue.
Lighten up Francis.....

Yep, superclean, a brush and light rinse does the trick with a much lower risk of issues.

Most people don't detail their engine bays. An overly detailed engine bay sends my antennae up.
Detailing the engine bay is also not for the novice.  You don't just get a bucket of water and your pressure washer and go ham on it.  There are some rather sensitive things in there that you need to be careful about not completely soaking with water and soap.

True, but you can always pay someone to do it when it gets to the point where it's nasty or at least clean it to a decent level with a dump cloth. There is a middle ground between a shiny engine bay and a nasty one.

I do a few kms of gravel roads daily, so my engine bay usually looks terrible because of dust and mud. I find my hose with a shower setting gets all the crud off, mind you, being a new car there are no oils or greases to remove, but still, not an issue with a bit of elbow grease using a long handle wheel brush and some purplepower.

Last time I went to a spray and wash I noticed a guy spraying the engine bay of his Telluride at full blast.   ;D

They didn’t sell a three row RX until the failed RX L in like, 2017, and they’ve never sold an RX with a manual.

^ I believe Dkaz knows what the RX is, and that the joke went over your heads  ;D
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

So would the majority of these be hitting the used-car market?    Just wondering how it goes if you've already been paid out by insurance.
