I hope the good old days of buying heavily depreciated Stellantis products return!!

Fond memories of buying my Chrysler 300 in October 2013 as an ex rental with 20,000 km on the clock and on the road for 1 year. I bought it for $21K + tax, price when new was $35K + freight, PDI & tax - 40% depreciation in the first year!! And it served me well for 320K kilometers with only an engine oil sensor that needed to be replaced!!

Can't give Wagoneers away... I've got one in stock that's been on the lot for ~200 days and not a lick of interest.

Why is that?  people just get the grand cherooke instead?
I tend to think most people would rather spend their money on the other proven full size SUV's in the market, either from GM, Lexus, Ford, etc.

Probably a bit of both. Typical Jeep customers are not your 6-figure full-size SUV buyers...the Germans, Lexus and GM/Cadillac have those customers, combined with the fact that there's very little to differentiate the LWB Grand Cherokee from the Wagoneer for those who do venture into a Jeep dealer.

Which is funny since Jeep buyers have traditionally had high incomes. I wonder if they would have had more success with an upscale product that wasn't quite as large.

I think that's somewhat fair, but they have pricey smaller options already if that's what you want. I know quite a few high income folks that have bought Wranglers, not as their primary vehicle, but as cottage vehicles (or down here, mountain home vehicles), city runabouts, or as a vehicle for their kids to abuse. It helps that the average price of a Wrangler is pretty high up there.
The Grand Cherokee has long been popular with the middle management types, so that probably drives up the averages incomes too.

If you want to see rich Jeep owners (or maybe massive debt) go to Jeep week in Moab Utah. Crazy money spent on their Jeeps + tow vehicle + trailers.

Yeah, I'm thinking something more along the lines of a Range Rover or G-wagen competitor but at a lower price point (similar to the Grand Wagoneer let's say).

The big mod Jeep guys are generally debt....A good friend of mine works for one of the big brands in aftermarket Jeep off-road equipment and he was saying there's a very close correlation between interest rates and sales.

Hey!  My bikes neither put me into debt, nor am I rich.

That being said, they're not called 'dentist bikes' for no reason...

I could have bought a lot of bikes for what you spent on your boat, though...

But they were probably frugal buyers.  My father in law, who was a physician in the US, had a Gen 1 Grand Cherokee. He bought the base model and added leather seat covers to it. He bought it because it was a good value.

I've been phoning around.  it's hard to find a 3.6l that are not bare bones.  they usually have no options and the 9.21 rear diff.

If new, and if they haven't changed their website, try the build and price. It will show you inventory that relates to your build. If used, well yeah browse online inventories or phone around.

Looks good. Heated seats and wheel, rear camera, coil rear, 300hp. Nicer than all the work trucks I've had the pleasure of being assigned to

Yeah I've done that.  I noticed some dealers, the smaller ones, doesn't post all of their used vehicles on Autotrader or kijiji so you have to go take a look on their website.     I initially I was looking for $25K-30k$ ish but those are usually at the 100K mileage (2018 to 2019), out of warranty and showing their age, so now I was wondering around the $35k range with maybe 2 years left on powertrain and around the 50K or less mileage.  Some ford F150 are descend in price but Ecoboost is a no go and the 5.0L is getting rare.  Would prefer the Pentastar as they pretty much are the same in milieage as my old hybrid.  Both our vehicles (toyotas hybrid) are over 300ks mileage so it's time to stay away from the beaters.  The highlander  we will  drive until it makes the news lol.

Here's my criteria:
1500 classic Crew cab - Either Classic look or Express  in white, dark blue, charcoal or gray- black would be OK.
-3.6 Pentastar  - preferably with the 3.55 rear diff (3.21 would be ok but no real benefit)
-Winter package (heated seats, steering wheel and remote start)
-Tech  (8"screen)
-rear parking sensors (old hard to find)

I don't tow so this is a family hauler AKA " the mini van for men"

I still like the styling of the Ram Classic.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.
