Bella's Son wrote off his 2010 Mazda 3 on Saturday morning. Only had liability insurance on it since it was basically disposable when he got it back in June 2019. Been trying to find a replacement all week & basically getting the same car as his with maybe a little less mileage is now $5k - $7k asking with work needed! :banghead:

My oldest has his 2011 Mazda 3, again with only liability coverage on it, might get him to look into full coverage now because replacing it for what we paid 2yrs ago is :censor: impossible!

Bummer.  Hope you find something out there.

It's bleak & he's being picky now... not in any position to be like that though, no cash, still has school to finish... time to suck it up

I'm sure something will pop up. Was supposed to go see a car this evening, but we've had freezing rain all afternoon & it's a mess out there.

Prices will probably never gonna come down to 2019 levels but they are dropping from where they were few months ago.
At least for some....

Yeah, off the road & into the ditch, set off side airbags as it clipped a hydro pole.

Well at least he is OK. Car's under $10K are very hard to find now!

As someone who’s actively looking daily for sub-$10k cars I will agree 100%. It’s borderline crazy.

Yaris...

They command stupid$$$. There was a 2005 Echo the other day on a dealer platform, 160K, rough body (some major dents on doors, fenders and rear 1/4) and the thing STILL brought $4900! Add buyers fee, taxes, carfax fee and all the other bs charges. Was a $2500 car on a normal day/times. Now some dealer is gunna mark it up to $8K.

Made me feel better about the 2008 Yaris I just bought that I thought I overpaid for.....

Deals can be found with Yaris...particularly with stick.

Recently helped a friend find one. Wanted a "new" one for himself because he's giving his "old" one to his soon to be licensed son. Old one has a bazillion KM on it and still runs like a top.

And they run forever....and cost peanuts to fix.

Definitely one of the best small used cars money can buy. A security outfit around here uses them, a friend of mine is close with the owner and he raves about how durable and simple to fix they are. most have well over 300k and probably double that with idle time.

Cops get him?  Or did he manage to get the vehicle out of there so no record of loss vis-a-vis the insurance company.  Otherwise devastating at that age.  Price of replacement would be the last of his issues.

That's what I'd be doing if I needed a cheap daily in this market....find something obscure and/or scary that nobody will touch and take a gamble on it. That Jag actually looks fairly clean.

I stumbled on this the other day - non-runner that apparently needs a starter; probably scaring everyone off with big FGC potential. For the $ though, toss a starter in it and see what you've got....Fun way to spend a weekend at least, and probably cheaper than the casino.  :rofl2:
