KTM finally buys something
« on: January 13, 2023, 04:13:00 pm »
No more buying questions from KTM for awhile. I finally pulled the trigger on something, but I had to drive to Canmore to get it..

A white 2016 Volvo XC60 T6 with every available option including the towing package (3500 lbs!). Set of fresh winters on alloys and another set of wheels with michelins for the summer. Conceivably I could hang a motorcycle carrier on the back..

Drives like a dream and holy crap it hauls the mail! In 2016 Volvo began offering the blown 4 cylinder options but they also kept the old 6 cylinder options as well. This one has the proper turbo I6. What a dream of an engine. Why they stopped offering it who knows. 304 HP and 325 lb ft from 2100-4200 rpm. It may be thirsty but don't care.

The one and only pic.

Congrats! Nice car. I've always liked these and still in the running for my next SUV as crazy as it sounds...Hard to find though. 2016 was the last MY for T6 with I6 turbo, correct?

How did the transaction go? Was the ad description accurate?

Yes, 2016 was the last year for the real T6.

It has a few bruises but overall it is in good shape. Interior is mint while the outside saw a lot of highway. Lots of stone chips etc. Used but loved. Yeah I met the original owner and 2nd owner (father in law and son). The old guy had a newer V60 T6 in while lol.

no accidents, leans etc. Transaction went very smooth and I paid $17300 all in (no taxes in AB). Lots of maintenance done but I didn't even ask for the receipts. Great people so no need. I need to move out the city.

Ad description was light on details as it just mentioned Premier T6. This car has every option so well well beyond a standard Premier. I even got a set of Thule cross bars and feet. 2 sets of Volvo OEM alloys.

Yes 2016 was the swan song for the turbo I6.

Good deal. They were asking $20,750 I think...
At this price, the relatively high mileage makes more sense, especially given the condition of the car...

Glad it worked out well for you.

Every feature huh, I seem to remember a review on driving TV about the back middle seat having the option to do this folding into a booster seat for children.  Does it have that?

Also, congrats on the sweet ride.  Question is, what will you do when the Crosstrek comes in?  Or is that a future KTM problem?

It may be thirsty but don't care.

The only one 6 inline turbo I ever drove was a diesel into Freightliner truck between 1992-1994, much more thirsty than yours, I guess  :P

Congrats on your new wheels  :skid:

It was an option, either the 2 outside seats could fold into bolster seats or they were heated. It was one or the other.

Looks like all that hunting was worth it! And if that's the right ad, you are a hard bargainer!  :)

Should be no problem reselling that (or the Crosstrek for that matter) in a few months
