Terrific review, Jeff!  Love the interior and exterior styling of this car.

Aaaaand cue the haters!  :rofl2:

:D  Looks awesome in every way. Some crazy development went on:

This new Genesis mill is augmented by twin turbochargers, plus an electric supercharger backed by a 48-volt mild hybrid system.

Still, how about throwing some of those development dollars into 4cyl engines that don't blow up?

Sort of like Ford throwing endless money into Jaguar/Landrover/Aston back in the day, while building their Taurus transmissions out of chocolate to save cash

I have to say, this was a particularly astute observation:

" And while this is a high-tech car, the screens never detract from the overall elegance of the G90’s cabin."

Some manufacturers seem to be in a race to transform the entire dashboard and center stack into one giant screen.  Do not like.

Really like this car! And as I continue to say...Genesis wheel designs are the best out there.

But for me...I'd still go Lexus. The previous versions of the Genesis were a compelling buy since they undercut the competition.

But now that they don't...not sure I'd roll the dice on the Genesis.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

It's still a lot cheaper than a 7-series or S-class though.

Comparably equipped, it's cheaper than the LS500, too.

Definitely.

Would take the Genesis over the German cars.

For price and long term reliability.

But over the Lexus? Nope.

SavageGeese just posted their year-end wrap-up video....named the G90 as the best luxury car they drove in 2022.  Hated the EQS, named it worst car they tested, in part because of the horrific screens.

I haven't read much positive about the EQS

Could see these being a terrific buy in a few years after depreciation has had its way. Great performance and design + reasonable reliability and maintenance costs

Yea!

If reliability holds up, might be a good buy.

And there in lies the problem for Hyundia; people who are attracted to this car want it after someone else has taken the giant depreciation hit.  It's a vehicle for wannabe rollers.  Pretenders if you will.  :)

To rich people it's still a Hyundai.  S Class buyers/lessees (mostly) don't even attend the showroom.  MB calls them up and says it's time for a new one.  What colour would they like.  Wealthy Asians, Europeans, et al aren't bargain hunters.  The brand is everything.

When this vehicle goes over the curb I bet the Lease to Buy ratio is 99:1

Yea, heard some similar anecdotes from former Lexus sales manager.

Said the data on LS buyers was they typically were long term owners.

Dunno if anyone sells any volume in the large luxury sedan sector. Think the only one that has reasonable numbers is the Lexus ES, soaking up those Crown Vic buyers retired with money

I think in the main they are producing them for the Korean market and if someone else else wants them, fine. The North American opportunity will be for the GV SUV's

I'm sure even Mercedes sells way more whatever-the-hell their SUV is compared with the equivalent E class and S class sedans.  Across the board, luxury sedans don't hold their value particularly well.  Some better than others, yes - but it's like ranking the 7 Dwarfs by height. It's also why they make great used car buys.

I think this thing looks pretty boss in profile.  If this is your pic Jeff, well done.

 :iagree:

Their extremally rare presence on the road, or lack thereof, supports that.... It's a competition to the Germans only on paper not in the real world. Do they even surpass the Audi A8 which I think it's the lesser of the Germans in the executive class?

Otherwise a nice car that very, very few will buy/lease new.
