2024 Subaru Impreza
« on: November 17, 2022, 02:06:58 pm »
Revealed at the LA Auto Show. 5-doors only, CVT only but the good news is that the 2.5 is available in the new RS trim (pictured below) and the carry-over Sport-Tech trim. The bigger four has the same 182 hp as in other applications.

No manual = no care.  Not that this would even be remotely my first choice of compact car (Mazda 3, Honda Civic, Corolla, Sentra).

I like what I'm seeing so far. Not having the 2.5 in the Impreza before was a big downer for me. Might have been a contender when we got the Rolla if it was available.

The 2.4 from the BRZ would have been nice, make it sort of a hatch WRX and take advantage of that lower ground clearance. As it is most people now just seem to spend the extra grand and get a Crosstrek

I dunno, I think this is a good looking hatch.  CVT would suffice for 95% of the people who buy these things.  The interior looks decent, too.  Bonus points for having AWD, which is only available in the Mazda3 (on upper trims, with the turbo engine, for a lot of money)

Nasty big TV screen there.

Impossible to get away from that in any vehicle these days. At least there are discreet buttons for the heated seats, climate temp front/rear defrost, and a volume knob.  All the necessary 'buttons' are still there.

You can also get awd with the atmo 2.5 on the GS and GT models.

Edit: Corolla sedan also offers awd now (the hybrid kind though)

The rear haunches look widened.  Wondering if this is a precursor to a WRX hatch....

Okay.  Still, the Subaru AWD is likely superior to the Mazda AWD.  Also, Corolla eAWD

If I were shopping for a Mazda3 hatch AWD, I would definitely have this new Impreza hatch on my shopping list and take it for a test drive.

We live in a world where the Impreza is a hatch, the WRX a cladded sedan and the Prius just about the hottest looking thing in the compact segment.

I was really only speaking for myself, I’m sure this will be as popular as the current generation, of which my sister currently own.

It's a lot better than the alternative.

I know this would NOT be my choice in the segment.

If Subaru, the Crosstek (manual eventually) would make more sense to me.

I sure like the look of that hatch, rear visibility be damned.

However, I have never been a fan of slip and grip AWD systems.

I would 100% take the dual screen setup over the giant screen. Yes it's ugly, but I can deal with ugly. That giant screen is offensive.  :P

This is more of evolution rather than a new car.  Hopefully they sort out the dodgy clutch, if you want a manual.  ;)

There is no manual so there is no dodgy clutch.  :P
