C8 starts at $75K. Decisions, decisions.

The local mark ups are $25K on the C8, however.

Shop around.  The local one here does MSRP plus a $600 admin fee.  Which I think is more than reasonable.  Not every dealer mark up.

I am seeing mark ups in BC and AB.  You are on the East Coast, correct?

Yup, New Brunswick.  Wouldn't a Vette road trip from the East coast to BC be a pretty fun vacation idea, definitely cheaper than $25K.

True that!

A guy a few doors down has a black one and he calls it the Batmobile, which seems appropriate.  I still haven’t finagled a ride…

Are they actual mark ups on brand new cars or "used" cars with 100 km? Just curious.
I love it when a plan comes together.

I like the changes they've made, it seems to have smoothed out some of the awkward proportions they've had in the past.  I'm sure it's amazing to drive, I just couldn't spend $90-100k on a vehicle that doesn't have looks that excite me as well.  I also don't love the looks of the C8, but it would be way easier for me to justify the cost in my head based on looks since it's in the same price range.  I haven't seen any dealers in SW ON openly talking mark ups on the C8, maybe if you go to actually purchase some are, but the only one I spoke to said it would be MSRP, just roughly a 2 1/2 year wait.  The crazy prices all seem to be on used.

I somewhat agree.  It’s hard to justify the cost on a vehicle that you don’t love the looks.  So begs the question what sub $100k car is the best looking?  Everything seems to be rather flawed at the moment for me, the Porsche Cayman is a great looker, but options are expensive, it’s pretty much $100k for a proper engine.  The Vette doesn’t have a cohesive exterior design, and no manual.  BMWs all are not the lookers they used to be.  Mercedes are all 4 cylinders with no manual.  Audi has no manual and their RS performance isn’t impressive below $100k.  Lexus RCF is pretty much like Audi, not really impressive, no manual.  The Alfa is nice but a nightmare to keep on the road and no manual.  Blackwings are both sedans. The muscle cars are nice but still lacking some refinement/luxury.  Nissan Z is just blah, decent, but more a GT than sports car.  The Toyota Supra is closer now with the manual, but it’s quite small inside and not 100% sold on the exterior design.  Then you have the Jag F Type, still a fantastic looking and sounding vehicle, no more manual, and possible reliability issues.  What’s left?

The decision for me would have been a lot easier had Lotus priced the Emira with their stated competition (M2 and Cayman), had it been $85kish for the base manual V6 I’d already be talking to the closest dealer, but it’s beyond $100k.

Hmmm, considering the colour I'd want is free, maybe I can justify the $3,100 for the premium package.  Seems pretty loaded regardless.

Agree. Maybe the carbon roof at $1900 would be a nice add on that would add to the looks. Maybe. But otherwise a base no options makes this a pretty nice ride.

Yeah the fees on luxury brands are getting out of hand.

I'd do Toronto Red + premium package + sunroof. Maybe the aluminum trim and M seatbelts.

I'm okay with a wait - wouldn't be ready to buy before 2024 anyways.

That's sooner than me.  I won't be buying until spring of 2025.

Ahh, that may be the rub.  Dealer getting over 100KM and then claiming used.  I'll have to check.

That is up a bit but it still comes from Germany.  I know there is upwards of $2K+ on some Honda's made in Canada so I guess in comparison that isn't bad?
