So what are peoples thoughts on this new AMG C class?  Sounds like it is a pretty sizable improvement in power figures.  Making 469hp from just 2 liters seems like science fiction but they did it, how reliable will it be past the warranty, yet to be determined.  I like the idea of a plug in hybrid but this is more about power than EV distance.  It has gone from being a fairly heavy 3,900 pounds in the last generation to over 4,650lbs, so yes lots of straight line speed, but how about corners and braking?

I think the saddest part is the loss of the great sounding V8, heck even their 6 cylinder would sounds loads better than this 4 will.  The detail that is most cringe worthy is that it doesn't just have fake engine sounds inside, but actual speakers outside to "enhance" the sound for those outside.   :'(

My interest in this thing is pretty much zero. I'm sure it will be an amazing performer but a four cylinder, AWD car is the last thing I would want to spend $100k on.

Yup, have to agree.  I'm sure it'll do 0-60 in 3 seconds or less, but my goodness I would not own one.  Has to be a manual M3 or CT4-V Blackwing for me.

I think the last C63 that I cared about was the W204 generation, like Bob had.  The M156 engine did have some problems, but if taken care of & if the cylinder head bolts were updated it seemed to be okay.

Hallelujah!! Thats what made the AMGs so special, the soundtrack. Some wheezy 4 banger is not going to cut it.
Lighten up Francis.....

A C class wagon with 300-350 hp and 75 km electric range would be an awesome car. Wouldn't give a :censor: what stupid badges they wanted to put on it.

Now that the C class cars have dropped the V8, will the same thing be happening to the SUV?

The powertrain uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four and an electric motor to combine for 671 horsepower and 752 pound-feet of torque.
AMG claims it will accelerate to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and go on to a top speed of 174 mph when properly equipped....The maximum 201-hp output from the motor is available via a boost function that can operate for 10 seconds at a time.....Yes, the C63 can go 8 miles on electricity only, but that is not what this car or this powertrain is about.

Interesting, using the plug in system more like a nitrous boost than anything. Made for storming the autobahn

It’s interesting. Amazing amount of HP/L. I’d be quite happy with some type of performance hybrid such as this.

I agree that a performance PHEV could be great, but I would want the ICE engine to be at least 6 cylinder and sound great, ideally a V8.  Maybe 60kms of electric range.  So your boring daily commute is covered by the batteries and when you want to let loose and have fun you have that sweet engine.
