Great choice! That engine is a gem and the car will surely hold good value considering the inline 5 has been dropped in Canada.

Just providing an update after 5 days of ownership, here are 10 notable points so far:

1. I love this car

2. It seems to be a bit harder on gas than the BMW 440 but hard to tell for sure, I've been driving mostly in sport mode and getting 13-14 L/100 in the city, 11.5 combined after 300 kms or so.

3. Car doesn't stand out as much as the BMW 440 which I like, definitely an under the radar car. If the exhaust is not in sport mode it is relatively quiet but put it in sport transmission and it sounds heavenly.

4. The ride is stiff, if you want a cushy ride do not buy one of these, I am using individual mode with sport everything but comfort suspension and still quite stiff, but I like it that way.

5. Sticks like glue in the turns, turn in is better than the 440 in my opinion but could be the new 255s on the front.

6. Steering is on the light side, in sport mode it is a bit stiffer then auto mode but way lighter than the 440.

7. 4 doors is more convenient than 2.

8. The digital cockpit is very cool and I like how you can personalize it.

9. Seats are very supportive and feel nice, they seem almost exactly like the BMW leather seats. Since the owner optioned power seats they aren't diamond stitched though which is a bummer.

10. There is a tiny lag when you hit the accelerator but then the speed just POURS on, and it's unreal how quick it goes from 80 to 120.

That's it for now!

Congrats again! Great car.

So how would you compare the power to the 440. I hear a lot that the B58 is vastly underrated by BMW.

He didn’t have the M440, which is severely underrated.

It's definitely different, the 440 was a bit more violent in its delivery but the RS3 is definitely as quick you just don't feel the kick in the butt that the BMW delivers.  It must be the awd but mainly rwd delivery from the BMW vs the Quattro Audi system. The Audi is definitely more civilized, it just sticks and goes fast.

The Audi almost feels electric in the power delivery.

BMW a bit more explosive from what I recall from my Supra drive.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I think it’s fascinating that the Audi has a reversed staggered tire set up.  Not sure that any other stock vehicle has that.

Just watching a Motoring episode on TSN and the test drive is the new RS3.   Not sure why they would review something that is not sold in Canada.

That is the perfect way to describe it, very I4 like in power delivery but more fun to drive, plus noise....

If I remember correctly, a Pontiac FWD had that.

Edit: Aha!  Tested: 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP
"Instead of four tires of equal size, the GXP has a lot more rubber up front than at the rear: Bridgestone Potenza RE050As, 255/45-18 front, 225/50-18 rear."

Only other one I'm aware of is the W body Pontiac Grand Prix GXP.

Exact - great memory!

Found this tidbit from googling around:

Quote
I was on the GXP program (styling side). The explanation from engineering wasn't so much that they wanted wider wheels in the front than the back. It was that they couldn't approve of wider wheels in the rear and since we were designing new(wider) front fenders, they could go with the correct width for the front. Didn't matter that people ran wider aftermarket wheels in the rear for years without issues. They said that the rear structure wasn't designed for/ couldn't withstand 100k miles of the expected increase in abuse from bigger heavier wheels. They also wouldn't go larger than 17" wheels. The car was originally designed for maximum wheel size of 17"x7"(in the rear) and they were NOT going to go bigger. That is, until Maximum Bob said the GXP was to have 18" wheels and that was final. All of the sudden they were fine with 18's. The twin spoke 5 star wheels fitted to the standard Grand Prix's are actually the rear wheels originally intended for the GXP. Bob also dictated that they new 18's look like the Mille Miglias. The wheels were made by Speedline. We were also told that the engine was to be heavily detuned as to not overwhelm the chassis.

Did the other W body V8 cars have a reverse staggered setup too?

If memory serves me well, no - just the Pontiac.
