Gotta wonder if this is the final generation for the Accord. Sales are half what they were a decade ago although it may still be an important enough segment for Honda. Ford thought Fusion buyers would just buy their crossovers but they largely disappeared altogether.

I worry about that also.  But if you start to see other makers start to drop out of that segment, do you think it'll kind of morph into the minivan segment, with only like 3-4 midsize sedans, two of which being the Accord and Camry, plus a couple of value leaders?

I think that is it a given. ICE, is coming to end. I can't see another Accord, after this coming unless it is electric.

Looks good. It appears to be the size of G80. I think hybrids are here to stay and here's why. First, even with the current gas prices, the cost per mile is similar to that of driving a V6 ten or so years back, which is reasonable, while the car's power is comparable and there are virtually no compromises on comfort and lifestyle. Second, having a battery size of ~ 1/20th of a full EV, the cost of a hybrid car production is less dependant on rising prices of lithium and other rare metals, so the hybrids will continue to be affordable. And third, as much as I am a fan of EVs for the reasons their driving dynamics and lowered environmental impact, a gradual transition to electric cars will allow for adaptation of charging infrastructure and electric grids to handle the extra demand.

I think that's how it will go. Drivetrain might change to hybrid or whatnot, but some people will always like a sedan and some makers will be happy being big fish in small ponds. Waiting at the light on the way home from work the other day 3 of the 4 vehicles ahead of me were late model Camrys.

Don't see a lot of Accords around here, but see a lot of Civics which seem to be almost Camry sized nowadays. Wonder if the Accord is going to be Honda's Avalon

The current Accord has a fast back look that makes it appear that it should be a lift back (Hatch). Why look like a hatchback and not be one???? If it was a hatch it would be on my radar and maybe have stopped a few people from going the SUV route.
If you want more in life you have to make an effort.

Not really…most of those sales transition into SUVs and trucks - some were for sure lost, but the sedan crowd is quickly disappearing…

High gas prices might change things over time, but I highly doubt it.

Longtime higher gas prices in Europe have incentivized smaller cars there since forever....if our prices are here to stay, not sure why we'd be any different.

Those pictures aren't exactly the most flattering.  To my eyes it just looks like a bigger Civic.  Should make it that much more fun trying to figure out if it's a Civic or an Accord.

+1. I also see some Ford Taurus in the front.

If they keep making it bigger it's just going to be a curiosity anyway

Hyundai/Kia confirmed the Sonata and K5 won't be renewed once this generation is done. And I won't hold my breath for a new Legacy  :-\

But why?! They should spend their time trying to figure out how to electrify their fleet…

Sedans are dead…not worth dumping more investment $$$ on them.
