Golf R
« on: May 07, 2022, 11:07:18 am »
The daffodils are to show solidarity with Ukraine.   The lack of engine cover is because they melted and VW recalled them and are making new ones...of a different plastic I guess.  The dealer will call when it arrives.

For more pictures of a blue R check Patrick_D1's post

That's OK, me neither....a good percentage of mine show up sideways or upside down when I mail them to my desktop computer  ::)

Interesting...if I click on the upside down photo in your post it not only enlarges but turns right side up.

Nice R!. You will be the exception to the typically R owner rolling around here who seems to have a chip on their shoulder showing/telling you at every opportunity that the R is as good or better than it's more expensive German counterparts... ;)

Looks great and that lack of engine cover makes it look like my Civic Si.  So did your actually melt or did the dealer take it off or tell you to remove it because of a recall?  I loved my MK7 Golf R and I hope you enjoy yours for a long time.

So how is the comfort level compared to the Audis and Volvos that you are used to?  Does the haptic controls bother you or are you used to them already?  Have you tried launch control yet?

Love that color too. That would stand out in a parking lot of white/grey/black

So does it meet your expectations after all this time waiting?

Super nice ride - enjoy!
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

A recall in the EU I believe for the engine covers.

I have some trouble getting in out. Bad knees and hip arthritis.
I can live with the haptics…it is only the temp and volume really as others have found.
Launch control will wait until after 5k!

Don’t know yet.  It certainly acts so far as a fast GTI. Haven’t got used to it yet.

Congrats! Another  for the colour.  Enjoy driving the snot out of it.  :drv2:

I have some trouble getting in out. Bad knees and hip arthritis.

I had a lot of people make the same complaint about my GTI. Between the big bolsters and further ingress/egress, it was challenging for some.

Beautiful colour!  Congrats!
I would MUCH RATHER have it in Tornado Red.    But it is a nice blue.
Mrs Tpl had 2 Fits in that colour. But I have had too many white cars and I will not have a black car

Apart from the unavailable Red. I would have Pomelo Yellow which I think is available on GTIs.

The R  is 1.5 cm lower than the GTI.
when I had my 2008 GTI I didn’t have arthritis.  Oh well.
