We don't have curbs anymore anyway, we have snowbanks now

I’ve hit a few curbs in my day. Luckily, just with SUVs running giant tires and tiny rims.

All were running steelies, but still, huge sidewalls FTW!  ;D

The Prime is shockingly low for what it is.  Bumper is always at risk for parking blocks.

And OMG...the Porsche front lip was stupid low.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Ha, I guess if that’s the worst “accident” I will ever have I will call myself lucky.  Also, at no point have I ever “bragged” about my driving skills.  I also know you are just giving me a hard time.  Hey, at least I’m not afraid to admit and post my mistakes.

I'm just happy I'm working from home today, posting about how the Crosstrek is great in winter is just an invitation to get smoked in some massive pileup

 That IS how I felt yesterday, crawling along in heavy snow in 4 lanes of traffic going 10km/hr, passing one abandoned car after another

One year update.  No unexpected issues during the first year.  No oil dilution issue.  Oil change done about a month ago at just over 8,000kms.  Winter performance was decent, nothing ground breaking but it got me where I needed to go.  Fuel economy for the year was 6.2L/100kms.  If you look at the fuel economy pics you’ll see one picture of fuel economy from day one, the other shows from left to right, winter tire/cold months, summer tire/warm months, the trip from Ontario when I picked it up, and the far right I think was from the dealer to our hotel.

I still absolutely love this vehicle.  I can only imagine how much fun a Type R or Type S would be.  Could do a Hondata tune and get some more power but that won’t be until warranty is out in 6 years.  Could certainly see myself keeping this long term.  It’s light, nimble, efficient, comfortable, and just quick enough to make you smile.  Absolutely no regrets about switching from the GLI to this.

Very good news!  That fuel consumption number is impressive.  What city/hwy mix do you have?

I would say the split of mileage would be 60% city, 10% secondary/country roads, and 30% highway.

Curious to hear if you’ve also calculated fuel economy numbers by hand.

In the vehicles I’ve owned, the car’s display has always been optimistic. But even if the real number is a bit higher, that’s still impressive.

Ain’t nobody got time for that BS.  LOL, nah I just use it to compare to my previous vehicles, definitely not 100% accurate.

Those are both rookie numbers. You are going to have to bump those up.

So has Honda fixed the issues with the 1.5T? Is this a 300k km engine?

So far both our vehicles with the 1.5T have been solid, no oil dilution in either, or oil consumption for that matter.  Is it a 300k engine…I don’t know.  Not many turbo’d engines are high mileage hero’s (outside of diesel of course).  We won’t hit 100k in either before we make a switch, so it’ll be someone else’s problem if things fail.

^^ I imagine after you are done with it some kid will get it and blow it up. This happens to a lot of Hondas even the unboosted ones. If it wasn't for that you would see more high mileage examples still in operation. Thank Fast and Furious for that. ;D

I track all my cars using Fuelly. It’s a pretty slick and easy setup.
