It's funny but they didn't even get into every difference either, they missed that the Canadian version has navigation and a spare tire.  But the US does get that nice Honda blue color and the $200 summer tire upgrade from dealer (although I did get summer performance tires for free).

The Civic Type R will be announced in a couple of weeks and I'm sure it'll be nice, but I won't be shocked if the power figures are basically the same.  I would love to upgrade to the Type R but really don't need to spend the extra $20K, plus I'm sure it'll be less comfy and consume for fuel.

My colleague Vincent reviewed it:

... and I just noticed they revised the layout of the website. Not as sexy on a computer but probably more phone-friendly.

I think a Hondata tune would be the way to go to turn your car into a budget Type R

Congratulation on getting the new Civic Si, Loved the Color combination and the point that it is a stick shift, it wins my heart.

Update before winter months.  Fuel economy has been pretty stellar so far, 5.8L/100kms over about 5,000 kms, with about 1,500kms being highway and probably over 3,000kms city, with the remaining being secondary roads.

Excellent handling and just fun and light feeling.  Could use an extra 50hp but likely would not enhance the experience much, just miss that extra bit of pull at higher speeds.

The only drama so far was when the navigation refused to work after we took too many none route turns and it stopped recalculating.  Strangely the next day it just got caught up and started the trip back up again.  It’s really a shitty navigation system, but we only use like once or twice per year, so not the biggest deal.

Put the winter tires and rims on today, thought I’d post pictures of my steelies, dirty exterior, and my frost shield cover for the windshield.  I know how much some people love black steelie winter rims without hub caps.  The tires are Bridgestone Blizzak WS90’s and so far seem to be as quiet as my summer tires.”

I’m going to track my winter fuel mileage to see how much worse it is.

Nothing wrong with steelie winter rims in my view. They are only going to get covered in winter crap anyway.  Interesting you use the frost cover. I used one for years when I worked. Saves wear and tear on the windshield.

Still just glows, that paint

Good call on the cover, can save a huge amount of aggravation

Steelies are quintessential Canadian.  I run them on the Armada.

Way too low.  Put your foot into it more.  :D

I prefer steelies just so I don’t stress about winter rim wear.

I find the cover extends the time period I don’t have to idle the car before driving and also cuts down on the time to clear the windshield in the winter when it snows or there is ice.

I swear the F1 inspired shift lights get use every other day (have to be north of 4,500rpms).  Mind you I mostly keep the car in normal mode.

I prefer alloys always, but not willing to pay for them.  If you can get a sweet used rim deal then alloys are the way to go.

Yea, I've used both.  Spare set of alloy or steelies.

Either way...there was no stressing.

Care to even explain that one??
I had VW winter alloys for my Golf R and GLI.  After two seasons they were discoloured from the build up of crap from winter use.  Then the first winter with my GLI I took a turn a little too hot, like I had the R’s AWD, and clipped a curb with my rear tire.  Just a little scuff, but still was upset with myself.  Won’t feel bad about these rims getting dirty or scratching them.

Meh.

Winter rims are winter rims.....That's why you buy them...so they can take a beating.

That is truly stellar fuel economy which at your age I can certainly appreciate.  Been there.  At my age I've just given up fighting the climate nut cases that have decided that obscene taxes on fuel actually accomplishes anything worthwhile, but inflation and a degraded standard of living.

I run silver steelies on the Frontier.  They look ok but they're a stupid design with a ridge behind the spoke area where water pools and has to be chipped out when it freezes or it'll cause an imbalance.  Happens often enough that I have to carry around a old flathead screwdriver to clean it out.  Not my first set of steelies but first time I remember this happening and it's annoying.

Fresh steelies look fine, I just hate when people let them get all rusty and crappy looking....What's it take to hit them with the old cheek poker and some Tremclad when they get rusty.

If running alloys in the winter a coat of wax or two throughout the season will keep them cleaner and prevent the finish on the face from deteriorating. I've been doing that for years and I've never had issues. What I have had issues with though is corrosion on the bead, which ends up causing a slow leak - that's irritating when it happens.
