Congrats!

I don't recall HRVs looking quite so monochromatic.

The first one I ever saw belongs to a friend of mine. She got it in summer 2014 when they first came out. Still has it.

glad your wife is safe, that is the most important part
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

HR-V touring does look really nice in white. Been a few years since I've driven one, but I remember being pretty happy with it at the time, and as others have pointed out, I'd bet on it's reliability ahead of a lot of similar options in the segment.

She fully entered the intersection on a green, with traffic there was no opening to turn, the light then went yellow then red she proceeded to clear the intersection when the guy came through and hit her. She was not charged with anything, but because it was a left turn she was at fault

That really sucks.  The no fault system is so arbitrary.  I should really get off the pot and put a dash cam in the wife's unit.

That's hardly any damage.  Wow!

Its because all the side air bags went off and then there is also some safety feature that locks all the seat belts or something. That meant all that had to be replaced as well as the sheet metal, apparently air bags and such are really expensive. The other big issue was that most of the parts were not available and with no ETA available either. The shop said he could end up with the car for 4 to 6 months, he already has some that have been on his lot for close to 3 and this is for most manufacturers.

I wonder what's gonna happen to the Kia... Will it be auctioned and some shady place will rebuild it or will it be bought an sold as parts on ebay?

Is it likely to end up in a third world country and driven with no airbags?
Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach the man to fish and he wakes you up at 5 in the morning.

With or without the airbags that is huge damage. I guarantee that whole structure has been tweaked, bent and weakened.

Glad to hear the Mrs is OK. What a ridiculos thing, the othe person runs the red light and your wife is at fault.

It is but coming from someone who rides motorcycles  a driver turning left must never assume a vehicle is going to stop. It needs to be clear or you are dead.  If you get stuck out in the middle of the intersection as some bozo blows through that is much safer than just blindly turning left and hoping the other guy is stopping.

Fully understand.  I would not want that car repaired.  The motor is worth $14K alone. Th pretentioners are about $400 each.

That would be young for a Lexus model.  ;D

In Ontario you can be not at fault according to the police, no charges, but your insurance company has it's own rules about fault and they like to spread it around and raise rates as much as possible.

^^

It is a failure.

Today, the system is overly complex and confusing. It is an entitlement system with far too much moral hazard. The problems first appeared under the OMPP, became worse under Bill 164 and have never been properly addressed.

Philip Howell, Ontario’s former Superintendent of Financial Services, accurately describes today’s system as “part insurance and part social program.”
