This is really a great looking car and should serve you well based on your past experience.  Congrats.

Are those the factory wheels or a winter set?  Either way they are sharp.

Thanks much!  These are factory wheels and the same set came on all 3.3t Sport models regardless of exterior colour.  I happen to think they suit the dark grey paint exceptionally well.

I am not looking forward to the kick to my wallet when it comes time to get a mounted set of snow tires for this beast, though.   :o

Congrats! As I said in the other thread, great car!

Thanks again!

I prefer carbon fibre, I find wood gain gets old looking pretty quickly

Well I have one example of each now, so win-win.  :rofl2:  I'm not sure what Genesis does to preserve the open-pore wood trim.  It must be stabilized in some way even though the surface looks untreated.  But in every car I tested - and in my own 2015 - the wood trim looked absolutely brand spanking new.

I'm late to the party here, but congrats! To reiterate what I said via DM, this is the best spec and colour combination of the DH generation's entire model run, full stop. As cool as the V8 is, I personally liked the 3.8 and 3.3T more. The former had a sharper throttle calibration, whereas you needed half throttle to get the V8 to wake up at all. The latter has the mid-range thrust for "always there" power, without needing to wind it out to redline. Suits the car's character better.

I do miss driving those things.

Nobody here has close to your experience with these models Patrick, so your endorsement is particularly welcome. I've been enjoying the heck out of it so far!

Is it a staggered or square setup?

Staggered. If memory serves, P245/40R19 in the front and P275/35R19 steamrollers in the back.

@Jaegar, definitely square it up for winter, no need to run the stagger.

Great looking car as mentioned before.

The paint looks amazing in quality.

Interestingly these have quite a long hood for a modern car. Like a muscle luxury vibe.

Thanks! Agreed on the pleasing proportions.  More on the paint shortly - quality is excellent.  Condition... well.... it needed some correction.  ;)

A bit more about the paint.  As Arthur mentioned, it does look pretty good in the pics.  But then, the low diffused light of the early morning is quite flattering to dark cars.  The actual reality calls to mind the phrase “good from far but far from good”.   :-X It was obvious from the moment I got the car properly clean that the hood was a bird’s nest of swirlies.

I decided to go for paint correction and ceramic coating to give me a solid starting point that should be durable and easy to maintain.  I looked around and went with a local shop here in Oakville – JP’s Fine Auto Detailing.  They offered to give me a look at the paint correction in progress, and it was amazing to see one small section of the hood polished to mirrored perfection, while surrounded by a sea of hazy micro-scratches.

The finished product was worth the expense – the car now looks like the body panels are made from tempered glass.  You won’t see a dramatic difference in the pics – the swirlies weren’t ever visible in the photos to begin with.  But man, the difference in person is freaking night and day.

Now if I could just have some warmth and sunshine to enjoy the beautiful finish!

Once again I have to congratulate you on another great purchase.  From the description of why you felt the turbo'd 6 was more different than the V8 it makes perfect sense.  Some of the tech you mentioned I thought your old Genesis had (radar cruise, lane keep, apple car play and android auto).

So how many kms is on her and does it have some warranty left?  I'll be interested to see if there is any fuel savings with this new engine.  You never mentioned the transmission, is it the same as your old 3.8L V6 or has that changed as well?

Thanks my man!

Thanks Johnny. 46K km.  Still powertrain warranty left and they made me an offer I couldn't refuse on an extended warranty, so I'm good for a while.  There will be ZERO fuel savings. 3.8 to 3.3t to V8 = bad to worse to Jeebus!  :rofl2:

Some of that tech was available on the  3.8, if you selected the Ultimate trim.  Mine was the middle trim  (I forget what it was called now - Premium or Luxury or some such).

Transmission for this generation was the same regardless of engine choice: in-house 8 speed unit.

Awesome looking car. Also like how the wheels are almost color matched to the body.

Thanks much - yeah that matching effect was a fortunate consequence of the body colour choice.  The same shiny gunmetal rims are on all Sport models regardless of paint colour.
