I use the radar cruise in the city, 2 lane highways, and 400 series highways and love it in all applications. I also like how I can just dial in the speed to the exact number I want vs guessing on a crowded speedometer.

Now lane keep I only use on 400 series highways as I find it too ping-pong on 2 lane hwys.
My vehicles are obsolete what is  lane keep?

Not an NA 6cyl but the entire drivetrain in my car is basically from the 90s, lol. Throw in quick ratio hydraulic steering (what other current car still has hydraulic steering) and the car feels very analog.  Bought it new in 2016 but it also didn't cost me an arm and a leg.
That was my thing with the 987/997s Porsches. Very analog.

The later Porsches, while better overall in most every regard, feel much less analog.

Hoping prices come down to earth in a few years when the MDX is paid off. 6cyl manual Cayman S would perfect when my son takes over the STI  ;D

.Think we'll keep our old school vehicles for the foreseeable future.  At least until the the prices and supply get back to normal.  The Lexus is getting up on 150k now and still feels like it could do another 150k if required.  We talked about replacing it with a wagon for a little more utility but we both still really like driving it and the truck has filled in for rough duty.  Things might change when I decide to retire but as things are I only drive our personal vehicles on weekends.  My wife has access to both vehicles during the day and she likes both so no real reason to change up right now.

I'm always open to getting another fun car in the future which will also likely to be old school rwd manual sports car of some sort.  No idea what, as I'm more of an opportunist when it comes to that, but like Oliver mentioned earlier the prices are just too out there right now.

By the time we do decide it might be even time to go electric for a daily.  I'm not adverse to that idea but not excited either.  There's nothing that really excites me much about ev and about the only metric of concern I can think of off the top of my head is range.   I've worked with battery powered dc power plants for years but still find it hard to apply, or relate the terminology to vehicles.  Will come with time I suppose.   :-\

One thing that i find that dates a car than anything else is the display based infotainment systems.  For instance, the info system in my Lexus felt dated within a few years of being new whereas the analog controls in the 20 year old Z3M still made complete sense and instantly functional, and probably will for eons.

Cool thread!

Edit:  Forgot to mention that my wife really likes the new Bronco. :D  Bit of a surprise considering she doesn't like SUVs in general.

I feel like that's why people buy Lexus's

You think the EJ will last that long?

Seriously though, it's in tip top shape. Not a drop of oil missing between changes according to my Indy (Subie specialist). And it only has 56k  ;)

My vehicles are obsolete what is  lane keep?

The cameras read the lanes (if there are any) and helps keep the car between them. Some systems work better than others like most things.

I am glad my car doesnt have a lot of the nannies. Lane keep is beyond annoying and adaptive cruise I would never trust. It has a backup camera, cruise control, heated wheel, and heated and vented seats. Dont need many other amenities, put the rest into the drivetrain and styling I say. The infotainment is a little dated, but I barely interface with it once set up so I dont care, I turn it off mostly actually.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Lane keep can be annoying AF, but having driven a friend's car from Detroit to Oakville I came to completely trust his adaptive cruise. Like most tech,  some systems are better than others.

Not something that I would.consider a must-have though..

My XKR has adaptive cruise, I've only used it a handful of times, but for a 12 year old system it's pretty competent.

Not a fan of the adaptive cruise in my Passport, doesn't seem intuitive enough. The one I had in my Grand Cherokee (an older system) worked MUCH better overall.

This thread got me thinking again about one thing....

Which "regular" cars (not high performance cars or versions of the car) sold in North America after 2000 had this exact combo: NA 6-cyl+Manual+AWD?

The only ones I can think of are BMWs and Audi A4 (2000-2005). Are there any other ones out there? I guess Subaru might've had the Legacy or Outback at some point but were they manual with H6?

The Acura TL SH AWD was available with a 6 mt. <-- They go for stupid money if you can find one these days.

Good catch, we all completely forgot about it.  This is where Vman would have chimmed in and I think he actually owned one of these (or am I mistaking him for someone else on here).
