SWEET!

How's the tune?
I'm getting it done sometime in January.  My wife bought it for me as a late birthday present.  I think they're both keepers! ;)
You're spoiled! :)

Keep us posted on the tune!

Finally! Ron gets his wish on someone else's car!  :rofl2:

What are the before and after number for the tune? Looking forward to your thoughts once it is done.

It's a ~10% bump which is a good start. I want the car to stay tractable and reliable. The bigger priority is to make sure the braking is strong and fade free for track days.

Just thinking - apart from the fwd setup, the Veloster N I returned this morning is pretty close to this, right down to the shape and 2+2 format. 275 hp / 260 lbs-ft, 280 lbs-ft for 20s with the NGS button (N Grin Shift, DCT only), and spider graph settings for the N mode. It's basically a dealer-sold track car. According to C/D, 0-60 in 4.8, 166 mph top end, 0.99g. According to me, SH*T THIS THING IS FAST!

Oh hell yeah. If my wife's annoyed and embarrassed, you know the car sounds good.

I just like modding!

Sadly, the Porsche doesn't mod well (IMO) and the couple of mods I've considered are $700 and $1100 USD. [emoji22]

Even the poorly designed (IMO) tailpipe is $600 US to change and requires dropping the exhaust.

I have to say that the Unitronic Stage 1 tune adds some power to the gush of forward progress that the TTS already has, even at lower revs.  I've done only one other mod, getting rid of the locking lug bolts in favour of regular lug bolts.  If they want my wheels that badly, they can have them!  The Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4s acquitted themselves very well on our 1600 km trip to Nova Scotia last week, and are a good match to the chassis.  19x9 seems a bit silly for wheel size, but the adaptive suspension handled the sometimes broken pavement with aplomb and I need to maintain that wheel size if I hope to clear the TTRS brake upgrade which will be going on the car before the summer.  Here's a picture of the car in our NS house garage.  I gave it a quick wash at the touchless carwash but there's still some dried up crusty road salt snot on the tail pipes LOL.

There have been a number of detail changes in the intervening years between my 2008 and this 2015 model year.  I keep finding small changes like LED interior lights and tail lights, illuminated interior door handles, higher resolution displays.  I've found a number of larger changes like a more obvious distinction between normal and sport modes on the adaptive suspension and a DSG which bangs off shifts with a "whump" souund marking the gear changes.  The 4.9 second 0-60 mph run is .5 seconds faster than my 3.2 according to published specs and I'm eager to test it at the track.  ;D

I took my 2015 TTS Competition Edition to the track this two weekends ago to take part in HPDE track instructor training for my MSF Level 2 certification. As I have posted, I picked up this car in December, and had it transported to Ottawa from Calgary. @aquadorjh helped a lot with looking over the car before it was shipped down.  Thanks again, Jason!

Let’s just say that this car was a bit of a revelation on the race track. One of my colleague instructor candidates owns a late model BMW M2 which he had to leave at home because it was too cold (or maybe too early) to take it out of storage. I shared my TTS with him and we were blown away by the TTS’s athleticism and all around goodness in the blustery and cold 8 deg C conditions.

I have yet to install the TTRS brakes which I purchased for it over the winter, but at no time did I feel like I was running out of brakes (or track 😂) The level of grip was sublime and the great well of torque from that feisty 4 cylinder was impressive. I purchased this to replace my 08 TT VR6 Coupe Quattro which I had also modded with full TTRS brakes and suspension and I am a bit overwhelmed and shocked with how very different this car is. The immediacy of turn-in, the well-sorted chassis, the “whump” as the DSG shifts, and the overall neutrality of the handling sans mods were surprising. People like to dis Audi for their understeery chassis but that meme is unfair in my experience. The 08 was also a great track car.

Here are a couple of pics

2 updates.  Installed the TTRS brake upgrade.  14.4" rotors and 4-piston Brembos.  It's the same upgrade I did on my 08.  I also had a DSG tune done on it.  I have been instructing/coaching so much lately that I've hardly been on the track myself.  It means that the consumables haven't been consumed as quickly as they normally are LOL.  One exception:  I stupidly left TC/ECS on during some damp running at Mt. Tremblant last month and ate through my inside brake pads.  It didn't help that I hadn't upgraded yet to semi-metallic from the ceramics.  This car, despite its power, is not race car svelte.  3200 lbs isn't too bad but most of the weight remains in the nose.
