OK, this is cool. Front end is kinda messy, but the specs seem exciting. MSRP? Lots I am guessing.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Agree with others who have said this will be a competitor for the Civic Type R and Golf R. I would think/hope pricing would be close to those two as well. First impression is that of the three options, this would be my choice. Toyota reliability vs VW FGC, AWD vs Type R FWD better for all year use.

Don't forget that the Corolla Hatch is MUCH smaller than either the CTR or Golf R. As a second car obviously a non-issue but if a primary car, could be a deal breaker.

Well I owned a Golf R and test drove a Corolla Hatch, I'd say the Corolla is marginally smaller than the Golf.  But both are a fair bit smaller than the current generation Type R Civic.

Likely more practical yes, but rear seat space is likely not much greater.  Just a lot easier to get into.

My opinion was different and it instantly ruled the hatch off our list and we like small cars.

We looked at the Corolla hatch when my wife was briefly considering replacing her Fit.  I was amazed by the rear seat dimensions - and not in a good way.  Every prospective buyer needs to sit back there for more than 30 seconds before making a purchase decision.  Now if I were buying this as a fun hot hatch with practicality way down the list, that small back seat wouldn't stop me.

Is it any smaller than the rear seat in the sedan?  Not sure who the hatch (in normal, non GR spec) is targeting as an audience....practically speaking, most purchasers would be better off with one of any of 3-4 of Toyota's other offerings.

Significant. Hatch vs sedan

Rear leg room   29.9 in vs 34.8 in

Plus the trunk on the hatch is really small. Maybe 1/3 smaller than a Golf which is already small.

Who cares about interior volume. It is an AWD manual turbocharged hot hatch. Stuff will fit, most important thing is you fitting as the driver. Let's be honest people.

I guess that's why you hardly see any of the hatches on the road.

I really like it too, although I've always thought the hatch is a great looking little car.  I hope it's not priced in the 40's, but given the competition that's likely where it will fall.
